| Were you able to see the other puppies or the parents? I wouldn't have put a deposit down until I saw more. |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk, I see you are from NY, I am a former NYer, The Bronx, if you are buying a pure breed yorkie for $600. I can tell you, you are not buying from a qualified breeder,if you were, that puppy would cost you $1000. to$1200.00. You are buying from a "back yard breeder" that's not to say both parents are not pure yorkies. That's saying someone had a female and someone else had a male, both have brain storm, lets mate them up, sell puppies, make $. Not a good idea to buy from BYB because the puppy is CHEAP. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" Sad that you left a deposit. A lot of pure breed yorkies get breed with another breed, most times it's always "an accident" depending what the other breed was, most puppies can look a lot like a yorkie. You are already suspicious if it's a pure breed. That's a red flag right there. Not judging you for buying the pup, just saying, never buy because of price, buy from a reputable breeder. How can you tell if it's a pure breed!!!! buy from a reputable breeder, there would be no questioning if it's mixed. If I were you, I would try to get my deposit back, save more money and buy a dog that you would not have to question how can you tell it's not a mixed breed. At this young age it's hard to tell if it's a mix unless you are very familiar with the breed. The pics you may be looking at could be show quality puppies. The puppy you are planning on getting is not show quality it's just 2 ppl mating their dogs, chances are the parents are pure yorkie. To me seeing the mom and dad dog don't mean a thing, they both could be mixed them selves. There will be other members responding to your question. If there is a doubt in your mind, I would not get that pup. If you get it, you will love it regardless what it is. BTW $600. for a "mutt" is not a lot of $. Today "mutts" are called "designer dogs" and go for bigger bucks then $600. A BYB will tell you they are selling their puppies at low price because they have no AKC papers, I wish you much luck.

| Are they AKC? If not then I'm going to bet they are mixes. There is still a chance with a pup being registered with AKC but it's harder. Honestly if you want a pure bred yorkie from great lines and the the most likely to be healthy you are going to have to pay more and search for a reputable breeder. A reputable breeder is breeding to better the breed and they know there lines far back to know that no health issues run in there lines they also do health and genetic testing to make sure there not breeding dogs who will pass illnesses on. Is this breeder keeping the puppy until 12 weeks that's pretty important because if taken from there mom before 12 weeks they can have socialization issues and bitting issues. If you get this puppy you need to get pet insurance ASAP because this pup could end up having genetic issues that are very expensive.

| I appreciate the feed back. Im new to YT so I dont know how to navigate and respond to each post but yes the frontal pic is what really has me questioning .. but the fact this person told me she was pure is the main reason I purchased her. I am suppose to get her at 8 weeks not 12. She looks large too. I did see a pic of the dam not the sire. Im suspicious by nature but I was hoping even though I was going thru a byb my puppy would still be pure yorkie but while reading and researching ive just noticed a difference in her mug. Im disappointed but I have spent so much money trying to get her prepared to welcome her into my home I just dont know what to do. Does anyone know if I have recourse in this matter? Oh yes this person did tell me she was giving me papers but not akc just bloodline or something like that. Im a fool I know. What can I do, any suggestions? |

YT 500 Club Member | Unless u get a DNA nobody really knows if their getting a pure bred yorkie. AKC papers are only as reliable as the owner. If you just want a puppy I suggest u go ahead and get him. But if you are not sure just keep looking. And all the stuff u already got, just keep it because u are still going to need it. |

| I have to disagree about the price determining what kind of breeder it is. I purchased my puppy from a reputable breeder and he was only $700. I questioned why her pups were so low in comparison to others and she said she loves what she does and doesn't believe people should pay that much for a quality dog. My baby is pure bred, akc registered, healthy, from a great bloodline and the breeder went above and beyond to care for him before he came home. If this is considered a back yard breeder then she's the best I've ever seen. |

YT 500 Club Member | I agree. I only paid $700 for mine and she came with everything including a contract warranty for 30 days. Some people just love the breed. Don't base it on cost because some people charge 1500-2000 for teacup size when in reality a teacup can come with lots of health issues and have a shorter life span. Oh yeah how do u upload photos in your reply area. I guess I'm saying it right. Someone ask for a pic of my pup but I've been unsuccessful |

| The problem with buying from a true byb is that you are keeping them in business when they are not helping to better the breed by doing everything they can to make sure they are going to have healthy pups and that they are breeding excellent quality pure yorkies that look like yorkies. We have lots of people always asking is my yorkie pure or not because we have so many byb sand puppy mills breeding poor quality yorkies that don't even look how the breed should.
