| No harness yet...ugh I've been in and out of pet stores for the last two weeks trying to find a harness that will fit my pup. I've tried Puppia, a step through and several ferret and small animal ones but none fit and he's able to squeeze out. Because he's become a wanderer during potty time I've resorted to connecting the leash to his collar. Please hold all of your negative responses regarding this practice as I am aware of what can happen if not done properly. It was either that or watch my baby get hit by a car. I'm still on the lookout though and no I'm not buying a harness that costs more than $20. If anyone can suggest one that worked for their 2 pounder and it's not one of the ones I already tried and it's not over $20 then please share. Thank you. |

| Chattiesmom makes harnesses to order, adjustable for some growth and very reasonable.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I think when Marcel was a baby, I bought a cat harness bc that was all that would fit him.

| Try a rabbit harness. I found a blue jean one at a local pet supply and it fit a dwarf rabbit which is about the same size as a 2 lb yorkie. Cost should be about $5-8.

| I went through 4 harnesses before I found one to work for Lexi. I love it and I can let her wear it all day so when she goes out to potty I don't have to fight her to put it on! I bought mine from Petco, but they only sell the small not the extra small, so it depends on how small your pup is. The first link is to a site that sells the small and xsmall and tells your the dimensions for both. | I looked at a few cat harnesses but they said 5lbs and up, the rabbit/small animal harnesses either weren't sturdy enough or he could squeeze out. Kreuer, I just got him one from petco from the lil pals collection. Not that one but I did see it on the shelf. I got him the light blue one with the bones. He's at the groomer right now so I'll have to wait to try it on. |

| If you have a dog that can get out of a harness, and some are real good at it. They learn real quick they can back right out of any harness.. They never forget that, could never use any harness on my Bichon. That being said, the only exception is the Buddy Belt, they are very expensive, they last a long time and they have a large adjustment factor. Keno has a size 5 and he is on the first hole, can adjust to larger by 4 additional holes. Keno is a large yorkie and could and does escape from all other harnesses but not the Buddy Belt. Other thing that I did do with my Bichon was attach the harness to her collar when safety was a major concern, walks off property, travel etc. I used a twist type deal that would not let her completely back out and be free. The tie held the harness to the collar, really alot of trouble and probably over kill on my part. But I was and am very careful with my dogs. |
