| Newbie to Miss Peyton :) Hello - I am new yorkie mommy to miss peyton who will be 12 weeks old 05/30/14... So she has been home since 5/23/14, and I think she came alread pre spoiled I just wanted to know about the crate traning because she HATES it she BARKS for hours on hours she cries when she doesnt see you I even have a play room for her with a gate and she can see me but yet again SHE HATES it... so really no sleep not sure what else to do .... Also any ideas for treats? Potty is going well she does go outside only once in the house which was my fault.. I know she is not suppose to be in the bed , but it seems the only way i can get sleep she sleeps all night long with no potty until morning but I need some help with the crate |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and WELCOME to YT ! Yup, she most definitely looks pre-spoiled . I didn't do crate training for the very reasons you're experiencing -- all 3 of mine HATED the crate. I used this pen instead and inside it had a bed, pee pad, water, food, toys for when I was away. Once they were a certain age, then we had them sleep w/ us. Ours are pee pad trained, so they can get down off the bed and pee at night. But honestly, I wish I'd trained them for outside pee only. For treats, you could do cheerios, little training treats cut even smaller, pieces of kibble, bits of cheese.

| Welcome again. I only used the crate for Calleigh the first night I brought her home. She is trained for wee wee pads and she goes outdoors. I was fortunate to be home most of the time when she was a puppy. I think that helped her training go very smoothly. She's now 7. She goes to the door when she wants to go out. She will make a little yip sound if I don't see her standing there. Good luck training your little one. Just take her out frequently. It seems they rather go outdoors than in the house.

| Crate Does she have access to the crate during the day also. Making it a safe place. Let her eat or chew on favorite toys while in the crate with the door open. Mine use their crates, with the doors open, during the day to rest in when confined to the kitchen while I'm gone. My new baby sleeps in her crate next to my bed at night. Only whines when she has to go potty, I take her potty and she goes back to sleep. She can see me and I put my hand on her cage if she needs any calming down. |

| I used a crate for my Stitch for about a week and then gave it up when he had two messy accidents in it at night. He ended up in my bed where he sleeps soundly through the night . Guess he trained me |

| Wow! What a little escape artist! I'm glad to hear she didn't injure herself. As I said before, I was fortunate to be at home when Calleigh was a puppy. I didn't need a closed play area. Hopefully, Miss Peyton will do better soon.
