| How to introduce a new dog into the household He's one of my pups that I sold over 7 yrs. ago, I found out yesterday thru facebook that this dog was placed in a shelter as the couple that took him are getting a divorce and she is in woman's shelter. I was terribly upset to see that post as I had already told her I would take him back, I didn't want him anywhere else and we signed a contract originally stating that he was to come back here if she could no longer care for him. She's promised to go get him back today, I hope she can do that or I will go adopt him myself. I admit, I wasn't really wanting another dog at this time, we have six already, but he is related to 5 of them, his parents and 3 siblings, one is his littermate. So of course I don't want to see him in a shelter, he's a bigger yorkie and being 7yrs. old, probably not in high demand to be adopted. I'm unsure of how to bring him into the household, our dogs are not used to other dogs for the most part and when one comes around they get quite shook. We already have 2 that cannot be together at all, as the little one (dad) growls and the bigger one (son) whoops his behind every time, he still growls. So I am hoping to get some suggestions as I would like to see Mickey become part of my dog family without too much trouble. Sorry this is so long, thanks for reading. |

| Just want to say how horrifying to find one of your babies was put in a shelter with out first calling you. You are sooo lucky to have found this out. As to your question!!!! 6 babies and a new older one coming in, I cannot answer that. I have had 3 babies, all 3 years apart, none related, had wonderful personalities, never, ever fraught with each other, loved all dogs, big & small, so to bring a puppy into our lives was never a problem. I am sure you will soon get some answers. I am so happy you will get your lil boy back. Good luck.

| I would have all the dogs meet in a neutral area...I hope you get him back.

| Well, she just called, she can pick him up at noon. So he will be here in just a couple of hours, no time to find a neutral place. I guess I will just keep him in another room and let them gradually get used to each other. My dogs are pretty friendly so hopefully it will go ok. I feel bad cause she has another small breed dog, but I don't think I could handle both of them. So hopefully someone will adopt her and give her a good home. |

| Well, he's here, he's a big boy at 13 lbs. bigger than his parents or siblings. I did introduce them outside, all went well, he's got a great temperament and so far so good. I brought him in to meet his daddy and littermate, Mia who is not in good health. Dad growled, letting him know he may be little but he's still the alpha dog here and Mickey just let that go, so I think it will be ok. My hubby is going to love this dog, I know, he's just a sweetheart. He cried when momma left, wasn't easy for her either, I told her she can have him back if she can get a place that will allow it otherwise he will stay here with us forever. You can tell he's been much loved and well cared for. |

| I'm so glad he's come home to live and think it's wonderful you care enough about dogs you bring into the world to give a little homeless boy a forever home where he can always be safe, cared for and loved. Allow the dogs to settle pack hierarchy issues between themselves during these next two months but step in to back off the bully and send him from the room if one starts picking on the other and making its life constantly miserable. Good luck to you and your larger, sweet family and the little orphan who is now a "son"!!!

| Thanks for the suggestions, all is going well as far as the other dogs, they seem to be okay with him being here. But he is very sad and crying for his people, I hope he gets used to us soon. |

| so happy you got the lil guy back. Poor baby, he misses his family. Maybe pay him a little more attention, not so much that will cause the others to be jealous, just a few minutes of hugs and love maybe in a closed room away from the other pups. 7 years with one family then to loose them is hard on this sweet lil boy. Great to know that he was loved and taken care of, it had to be hard on this lady also, not easy to give up something that you love. Good luck and please keep us updated.

| Update on Mickey Well, Mickey has been here a week and the other dogs have accepted him with no problems. We lost a dog about 8 mos. ago, so they were used to 7. Even my little alpha dog, 4lb. Sydney has only growled a couple of times at him, luckily Mickey is good natured and not wanting to fight. He's still cries for his mommy, obviously was much loved and cared for, but getting used to us here. I am so glad we don't have to keep him separate like our other dog, who doesn't put up with being growled at, but he and Mickey get along just fine. Mickey is a good example, though, of how you can't tell how big a dog will be judging by the parents, as I have both of them here. Sydney (4lbs.daddy) Sassy 8lbs. mom, also have his littermate, Mia, who weighs about 5lbs. Mickey is 13 lbs. not fat, just solid, but definitely all yorkie He's home and will stay here forever unless his mom can work out housing that allows dogs. |

| That's really sad that he still cries for his mama. I wonder if she could ever visit? Would that be therapeutic for her as well? Obviously that's asking a lot from you but the situation is so sad. |

| I did tell her that she was welcome to visit him anytime, but I wonder if that would be to hard on him to have her leave him here each time? |
