| Yorkie puppy validation? 😜 I recently purchased a "yorkie" puppy for 350 dollars. I bought him at 4 weeks. I asked the woman to hold him until he was ready and I'd pay a deposit. She said she's selling them first come first serve so I bought him. :/ he is accepting a bottle just fine and I've given him small amounts of water slowly this way. Wondering if anyone has pointers on this and if he is in fact an actual yorkie puppy. Hahaha looks like a itty bitty rott. In the coloring lol any advice would be appreciated. I lost a small breed malshi not too far back so I'm nervous. I love him already. Tee he. I so do. I can't seem to get any of my photos to upload... I have Instagram. Danger_golightly any help would be great. |

| I'm not sure, but maybe you should post this on the breeders section. They would know lots more about caring for such a young baby. Welcome, congrats and good luck!!

| Four weeks!!! Ca law states that a pup has to be at least 8 weeks of age to sell. You should report her to animal control. That baby is way too young to be taken from it's mother. This is an outrage.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | It's hard to tell from those pictures. He looks like my Scarlett did at 6 weeks, but she is a mix. I'm appalled that anyone would be so callous to sell a 4 week old puppy. There's a word for that type of person...Hopefully the Karma bus will smack her good. He appears to be on the bigger side, which is good. My advice is to find a vet that is open and get him in ASAP. I'm assuming Riverside refers to Riverside, CA. If so, there are multiple vet options in the area. You need to find out what you should be feeding him and how to transition him over to a wet food. Royal Canin puppy mousse is easy or them to start on when they don't have teeth, Wellness puppy canned is another good option. Both are sold at Petco. He's at high risk for hypolgycemia and infections. Keep him warm and give him lots of rest breaks. No outside trips ( with the exception of the Vet's office ) until after he has completed his vaccinations. Read up on the signs of hypoglycemia and how to treat it. In a pup this small, dehydration, diarrhea and lethargy are considered emergencies- take him to te vet immediately if any occur ( Emergency vets are open 24 hours- expensive, but can be the differences between life and death). Good luck. And BTW, I like "Bruno".

| Absolutely unbelievable!!! COMPLETLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! This was not only an illegal transaction, my heart aches for this poor little innocent soul that has been deliberately orphaned by an uncaring, uninformed, money hungry human......and why in the world anyone would purchase a 4 week old puppy is totally beyond belief. Have you read ANYTHING about ANY baby animal, Yorkies in particular??????? I am sorry but this borders on animal abuse on the part of the "mixologist" (I REFUSE to call this person a breeder). And I wont even go into what this does to the momma's psyche.....oh let me guess....the typical excuse they use...."momma rejects the litter", "had an emergency out of town so we have to dump the litter so we can go", "momma died", etc, etc, etc ad nauseum.....This is sooooooooooooo sad, sad for this poor little puppy, sad for a totally clueless "customer", and sad for the momma that is looking for her babies.....At the very least, get a dose of NeoPar vaccine into this unfortunate baby immediately, before his puppy shots start, so he does not have to endure parvo. | It would be hard to tell if he has no papers from the AKC but even then this is not an ethical or reputable breeder. I would encourage you to start looking at pet insurance that covers genetic illnesses because I can guarantee you this breeder did not do testing and surgerys can be very expensive. I do think if she broke the law you do need to report her to hopefully stop her from doing this again because it very wrong. I wish you luck with your pup and I hope he thrives and does well.

| I am a breeder, and my last litter had one puppy that was way too small. The mom rejected her, so I raised her by hand. By the way,she is seven weeks old and very healthy today! I have been feeding her the perkilak formula mixed with one egg and a couple tablespoons of pedialyte. We started her on hard dogfood a few days ago. I have found the best way to do it is soak it in water overnight, and then mix it with a tiny bit of formula when i feed it to her. she has done very well and is now back with her litter mates. It is terrible that the breeder let the puppies go at 4 weeks. But whats done is done, and you can keep that puppy alive! And turn that breeder in if possible. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Please please please get to a vet ASAP to check this kiddo's health and to get advice on how to keep this poor little baby alive. Also, the breeders here have good advice on how to keep a pup alive -- please take their advice. This could truly be a life or death situation with a pup this young. I'm very scared/nervous for you .

Dr. Dodds says you can give a single Parvo shot to puppies as young as 6 weeks old but Yorkiemom1 is a very respectable breeder w/many years of experience, please listen to her. Please treat this puppy like a new born baby. Keep him warm, confined in a crate when alone (but he shouldn't be left alone), feed every 4-6 hrs (he should be eating soft warm puppy gruel, puppy food mixed w/goat's milk), don't let any other pets around him & always have water out for him, the hamster/ bunny bottles work great.

| Any tiny, young puppy can become hypoglycemic so if he begins to act very sleepy or lethargic when he's up and about, stumbles, seems weak, shaky or dizzy, acts disoriented, confused or just goes down suddenly where he is and stays there, rub honey or karo syrup or Nutrical or sugar on his gums and get him to the vet ASAP - he could be going into hypoglycemic shock. Regular meals a few hours apart as those above have recommended can help prevent this from happening but not always. It's an emergency when it happens so be prepared to get him quickly in to the vet if this happens. It's a shame you wound up with a dog too young to be away from its mommie. It goes against nature. Humans are a poor substitute at our very best. If it were me, I would share this breeder's website so all can know never to do business with her.

| Nor will she. She was ignorant in buying a 4 week old BABY and doesn't want to hear the possible consequences of her decision. Poor baby.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | I just really wish that people would do more research before purchasing a puppy. To rehome a pup at just 4 weeks of age is just Ridiculous. Shame on the breeder for pushing this young pup on an innocent buyer. No one in their right mind would do that nor should anyone looking for a pup accept such a young pup. Seems like they both are in need of some education about breeding and what is best for this pup. Very Sad !!

Hopefully the OP will return. At 4 weeks, she's got her hands full and I hope she will take the time to come back and learn.
