| about head for some reason Fancy like to rubing her head on anything just about. but lot of the time she like to cover up her food bow more then anything. and we are not to sure on how to get he to stop rubing her head. we have more thing but she will go and find something else to use if she can. so is there anything that we can do to get to stop doing this. we don't want her to lose any hair on top of her head either. and thanks for taking the time to read this and for any help that anyone does give us too. |

| I'd like an answer to that too. Scooter will run his head on pillows, throw rugs, the back of the sofa and other odd places. At first I thought it itched but I don't think that's it.

| Continual head-rubbing is frequently a symptom of liver shunt or MVD(microvascular dysplasia). My Tibbe did it a great deal until he was diagnosed and began a special diet for MVD and has since stopped it altogether. I've read they head-rub because the build-up of toxins in their systems from the liver not properly cleaning the blood of toxins causes bad headaches and itching. I would have a vet run some blood tests and do a Bile Acids test just to rule out liver disease as a cause.

| she does it more of the mornings that's what my mom just remind me of. and when she gets ready to eat she think that she has to cover up her food. at time she does do the licking. but part of me think it has something to do with her dry sink. so she getting that med again. I forget to give her that med from time to time too. but I am going to try and keep it up much as I can and remember to do I. but if things don't change then we will check with the vet. |

| it could be just the weather. but she not rub anything else or really scratch she might do that every once in a blue moon or something like that. I hope it's nothing to do with the liver. I think it more of dry sink since mine has been bothering me more this year. but I did read on something it could be something she eating or it could be she could smell something there that he finds appealing and he wants to pick up the scent for herself or want to leave her behind. and some other things that I can't remember right off hand. but I am not going to worry myself sick over this. since it could be nothing at all. all I can do is just watch her more careful and see what she does next. but I just think it's algers however u spell it. but then again she just might need a bath to get whatever it is on her off. I just might do that tomorrow or this week if I can. |

| It sounds more like deliberate head-rubbing which usually only occurs at times during the way but just watch her and get her to the vet and ask them to check her liver and for allergies if she keeps it up as you said in your OP she rubs it on just anything and you were worried about her getting a bald patch on her head which means she's pretty driven at the time by the pain or itch. A lot of dogs try to cover their food but that's usually unrelated to the other head-rubbing. True head-rubbing is painful to watch as you just know the dog is trying to stop whatever is bothering them and doesn't know what to do but they are trying to get it to stop! It's not just normal scratching or the occasional rubbing. That's when I have to step in and get them to the vet and checked out for what is causing the thing driving them to do it at given times. I tried to call Tibbe's nothing at first because I was so worried something really wrong was causing it so I understand how you feel - you want them not to be sick or bothered by anything. And he only did his at times but now, thank goodness, he's stopped it altogether. Whew! Here's some links from Googling "head rubbing" and liver shunt. You can watch the videos and read some of the articles to find out more to compare those dogs with your dog's behavior. https://www.google.com/search?newwin...33.SdlUuNFK-7E What is dry sink? Not heard that term before.

| thanks I just might take a look at them. but she hasn't really done any of the rub of her head today just to cover up her food. but we thinking it could be algers however u spell it. ever since she back on the fish oil. since she does have dry sink and that might be bothering her more with the cooler weather. but my mom don't have algers however u spell it or anything but she think it could be that since she might be getting some algers however u spell it. the people that I do know that does have algers however u spell it has been bothering them more this year. or it cold be the baby wraps we was using to clean up feet with when she came back in from outside if she was walking on the ground or grass since we didn't want her on the bed with her feet like that. so we haven't use the baby wraps in while so we are going to use something else. but we been using them for a long time and it didn't seem to bother her. but it could be different once and then again she could take a while before it started to bother her. then again we just might not have pay that much to her when it first started either till she started doing it more often. but then again we been going on a lot more walks then we have in the past. so it could be something outside that is getting to her. I just might watch her when we are walking a lot more then I do now and see if there is anything outside that could be doing and see what she does when she get back in. it could be the grass that bothering her this days. but it never did it before. but things could change later on. some people get things that they never had for years and just started getting them. I am just going to keep a eye on her more and see if things don't change then we just might have to take her to the vet. I just hope things does change for the better. |

| Is dry skin what you are referring to? I'm sorry - I didn't see that at first but it's obvious now what you meant. And she rubs her head and scratches from that? Could very well be she's allergic to something - worse at times and then gets better. And grass and seasonal allergies can affect many dogs and though some were never allergic before, they can suddenly develop allergies just as humans can - seemingly out of the blue. My Tibbe wasn't allergic before last year when he was 6 years old!!! Developed bumps on his back last fall from what was apparently seasonal or food allergies and scratched a lot. They and the itching went away after prescription shampoo, a spray on Benadryl solution and winter arrived so who knows. Anyway, just watch that baby and get her in to see the vet if her behavior indicates she's got troubles. Good luck with her and I hope she's okay soon.
