| Puppy food Lily will be my first puppy to have. What foods do you recommend for a puppy? Do I need to continue what the breeder is feeding her? She will be 12 weeks old when I get her. I feel like a brand new mommy!

| With new pups coming into so much new stuff it's better to keep them on the same food the breeder has them on for a few months at least to keep the stress down as much as possible.

| From the sounds of the other thread it seems like you found a great breeder so I'm sure what they'll be already feeding her should be pretty high quality food. With that in mind I'd continue feeding whatever she's used to for a month at minimum. then slowly switch her over. I currently mix what Darla was eating into some canned Merrick Puppy Plate flavored food and she eats it up like it's some sort of special treat. I also supplement with GNC's calorie booster which is similar to nutrical. She's a great eater and doesn't seem finicky at all. My honest opinion on dog food brands is that Grandma Lucy's is the best quality dog food I've ever fed. |

| Why don't you message dr R and ask her for a suggestion? Tell her your a home cooking client and can she suggest a good commercial puppy kibble. I asked her what to feed Winny and She gave me her suggestions so she may do the same for you! She's on Facebook now too!

| Hee hee!!! You must be soooo excited Rhonda!!!! Just to put my oar in - as you probably know I home-cook for Harry, too. But that came a little later. When he first came home from his breeder, he was on a 'not very good' kibble, and so over the course of a few days I mixed in what I wanted to feed him....which was Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier puppy kibble, which he absolutely adores and he thrives on it. Even now, I keep a bowl of the 'adult version' down for him to graze on. Try a little sniff of it Rhonda ....I even had a little nibble on a piece and it tastes gorgeous!!! If it's good enough for me, then it's just about good enough for my Harry!!!! Sally xx

| Yes but you would need to have a consult done I think. Ask her. I fed all mine home cooked.
