Yorkie Talker | Puppy barking all night The last 2 nights our Boncuk has started barking about 1 am and doesn't really stop till we get up at 5am. It's been very windy the last 2 nights and I was thinking this might be the cause. he is 3.5 mo old. He sleeps in his cage in the next room. I was thinking maybe I should move the cage to our bedroom but I'm not use if that would help or not. Any ideas? Both my husband and I are very tired and need to get some sleep.

| Maybe he is going thru a growth spurt and is waking up hungry, an extra meal before bed might help?. Or a draft from the windy weather- try throwing a blanket over the back of the crate, or an extra small fleece blanket inside. Good Luck! |

Yorkie Talker | I have food in the cage at night but it was all gone this morning. He has a large dog cage with his food and bed on one side and pee pad on the other. His cage is covered at night but I can put another small blanket inside. Thanks

| Canines are pack animals and in the wild, gather to sleep near or touching their pack members for safety at night so your puppy is trying to call his pack to him when he barks nights from the other room. I'd bring his crate next to my bed and secure it up on a chair right next to the bed so you can reach out and touch him occasionally as he settles in for the night until he's old enough to sleep with you. It's just his instinct kicking in and causing him to protest being shunned or left out of his pack at night time when packs normally bind together for each member's protection, safety and sense of family.

| I agree! My dog sleeps so much better when she can see someone from her crate. She went from waking up at all hours of the night to sleeping through the night.

| This reply makes me wonder if putting Baxter's crate in our room at night may help him. He sleeps fine in his crate, but gets up twice a night and needs out to use his pee pad. He never pees a lot, but your reply makes me think, maybe he wakes up and just wants to know we are still there...as his crate is in a whole different room. Baxter is 3.5 months old, maybe he is just young and needs to get up and go during the night. But tonight we will try putting his crate in our room and see how it goes.

Yorkie Talker | Moving the cage to my bedroom worked. Boncuk didn't bark all night . And didn't cry. There was no wind last night but I think he was just alone and scared in the other room. Plus now he knows some of the noises he heard before was just my husband snoring
