| I made a car tether, opinions? I wasn't really happy with any of the car tethers I saw available, so I made one. Materials: Carabiner clip, weight limit is 100lbs 550 paracord Carabiner (?) clip that screws shut, weight limit is 300lbs Lola is probably close to 6lbs, I'm not exactly sure. It was made in one continuous piece, so all of the knots would have to come out for it to come apart. I will finish off the ends but I need to test the length first. The plan is to clip the small carabiner clip to Lola's harness and put the big screw on one around the seat belt. I wanted a stronger clip to clip to her harness, but the only ones I could find were much bigger, much heavier, or screwed shut. |

In my car she has a snoozer car seat, for short trips in other people's cars I sit in the back with her on my lap. I bring her car seat for longer trips. For the car seat I'll put the big clip around the waist and shoulder part, on my lap I'll put it around my seat belt. | |

| Thanks everyone. I'm looking into selling them but I'm not sure if I can ship it in a cost effective way. It looks like a small flat rate box is the cheapest, it's $5.25 to ship it if I print the label. The tether weighs 4oz, most of the weight is from the screw on clip. |

| [QUOTE=McheleM;4404222]My truck has clips at the bottom of the seat where the back and the seat meet, where you hook a car seat onto them. Perhaps you could hook the clip around one of those?[/QUOTE Any vehicle after I believe 2000 (need to double check)is required by law to have the latch system all seats behind the front have them and all trucks have them in the front. That being, said I'd love to get some for my bigger dogs. They could be left in place and are stil small enough to fit through the holes in the seat cover I have to protect the upholstery. Much quicker than wrestling them into their car harnesses. Just hook to their regular harness. |
