choke free harness vs buddy belt

Trying to choose one of these to try.....any pros/cons to each of them?

I had a comfort harness before I had a buddy belt. The comfort harness was cloth and I think it will wear out much quicker than the buddy belt will.

~In the rain, I'd rather have the leather buddy belt than the cloth comfort harness bc it takes longer for the comfort harness to dry.

~the comfort harness is a bit more flexible than the buddy belt(cloth vs leather)

One of the things I really love about the buddy belt is that it really holds my dog in. I can pick my dog up with his leash by his buddy belt if another dog is coming and it doesn't hurt him. If I tried to do this with the other harness, my dog would slip out of it or it would hurt him. I've actually picked my little guy up about a foot off the ground and swung him around....not intentionally, but I swung him away from another dog. Thank goodness he had the buddy belt on. There are lots of people that have had similar stories.

There are lots of great reasons to by a BB~the various colors, because its a quality prodct that lasts forever...but what I really like is the fact that it securely holds my dog in.

The one thing that I like about the choke-free harness is that it has Velcro instead of a buckle. But I do like the way the BB seems to hug the body

I have both and love them both. Both look great are secure and comfortable. There are members here who sell both.

I prefer the buddy belt because the size is more adjustable so they could wear it nakie or on top of a shirt or sweater. I do not believe the choke free is that adjustable.

I have both & love both, they're secure. I do prefer the BB bc like theporkieyorkie mentioned, I had to lift up Turbo once bc a big dog was running towards us & Turbo is dog aggressive. He pretty much freaks out, barks like a lunatic & nips them if they get too close.
My girls do not like velcro, it scares them, so for that reason, I use only the BB on them.

The ChokeFree leather harness is what I tend to prefer... It's 'lighter' (and yes, probably lesser quality, too) and I like that it's not quite as bulky. It's definitely not as adjustable though. It seems thinner in general. Also cheaper in price. I don't find the velcro to be a problem, as I know it's secure (you have to put the d-ring through, and when the leash is attached, there's no way for it to come undone). But I do have a dog with short hair, not sure how it'd be on longer hair.

Technically, I would think I would like Buddy Belt better, in retrorespect. But every time, the ChokeFree ends up winning out. Although I prefer the Buddy Belt for it's versatility in size -- if I need to fit a harness overtop of a jacket, etc, it IS nice to be able to adjust that much just like you would a belt.

I don't know I guess I'm all over the place, I have pro/cons for both, and really like them both.

I definitely prefer the adjustability of the Buddy Belt. I think they are both great harnesses. I don't have Choke Free harnesses, but I have seen them. I like the leather on the Buddy Belts more, and I'm not crazy about Velcro with long hair. I also find the buckle easy to use. Still, I think you can't go wrong, no matter which one you choose or with either of the YorkieTalk members who sell them. They are both wonderful to work with.

I love the BB! It is adjustable and when Tatiana was a baby she was so scared of the sound of Velcro! I use her BB over and under clothes and she is still wearing her first BB. It is so secure and I have no fear of hurting her if I need to suddenly whisk her or Teeka out of harms way!

I've found velcro in general, to be problematic, especially with my little guy who has a longer coat. I've got my older pup's armpit and chest/belly hair caught in velcro as well from his coat...but never in the velcro on the comfy harness as his back is shaved down.

On the flip side, I also have to make sure I don't get my younger pups beard hair tucked into his buddy belt and I try to pull all of his leg hair out the holes. I had a sweater on him and a buddy belt over it and he yelped when I picked him up and I am certain it was because it was pulling his hair somewhere...but that is a WAY easier fix than trying to untangle hair stuck in velcro. It can literally be as bad as tape. I've had to cut hair out of velcro!!

Buddy Belts all the way! We have a Choke Free for our smaller guy and I do like it for him, but didn't like the CF for our "teapot" 11lb boy. I didn't like how it looks and he didn't seem comfortable. BB is more adjustable, you can clip the tags to the d ring and both boys love them. They are very secure, high quality and there are lots of great colors for boys and girls, plus matching leashes and optional embellishments, such as crystals. We buy all our BBs from W Fields (Maximo on YT). Amazing customer service!

I have both but prefer the buddy belt. When we go visiting people I use the choke free because they have neat designs on them and I like to show her off wearing them.
