| 4yrs. Change Potty Habits? Hi; Rolo goes outside to do his business. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have trained him differently. I started training him on pee pads, thinking that would be a temporary measure but when I took the pee pads away, he continued to pee, where they used to sit. Now, he always asks to go outside but, if he does happen to go inside, it is on the old site, where the pee pad used to be, next to the stove, on the hardwood. It's wrecking our wood kick plate and the finish on the stainless steel oven looks ruined. (he's migrated over about 12" and lifts his leg on the corner of the range) If I know I am going to be away for an extended time, (longer than 4 hours) I have made an enclosure that he can't get out of. It is about 8' x 5'. His bed, toys, food, water and pee pads are all there, but he won't use them. The odd time, I have been held up at work and he has waited 11 hours to do his business. He won't use the pee pad in the enclosure! He will wait until I get home. He has to be in pain! Is it possible to train him to use the pee pad again so that he will use it when no one is home? |

| One thing that has worked for me is a spray that smells like pee they sell it at pet smart, Walmart ext and you spray it on the pad where you want him to go and he will start marking there. As to the stove and old spot you need to buy a spray to clean up the pee smell because if he smells the old place like pee he will continue to go there. Although it might be in the hardwood and that might be hard to clean up. I hope this works good luck!
