| Extremely cheap way to get your dog to eat slower! You know these bowls designed to get your dog to slow down when he eats? https://www.google.com/search?q=dog+...w=1279&bih=702 I am sure we all got something in the house that works just as well and isn't $20. I take a tupperware or similar plastic container. Use only the lid and flip it over. Put the measured amount of kibble in the little "dip" in the edge of the lid. Our kibble fits perfectly and makes them eat only one at a time. Problem solved.

| How cool! I'm going to try that....slow feed bowls do not work at all for my two vacuum cleaners. I've been grinding their kibble into tiny bits and making paste. Jada has choked twice which resulted in emergency visits to the vet.

| Interesting, I should try something with Meika. She eats her food so fast then lays down near the other pup's bowls and stares at them wondering if they are going to eat all their food too. Sometimes I just put a little of her kibble in her bowl, let her finish and wait, then give her a little more. I'm just glad that all 4 are good eaters and clean up their bowl twice a day with no problem.

| Great idea! The slow feed bowl didn't work for us. We started putting Lumas food in a treat puzzle. its like a tic tac toe board where each space flips up. Worked for a while but she's a pro at poking her nose in there now. Maybe I'll try the tupperware thing. Her bigger problem is drinking too fast, though. She drinks and drinks then pukes it up. I've been meaning to try one of those water bottle converters Jenny sells at Topline. I think the licking action would slow her down, plus it'd save us a messy beard, too

| Yeah I think for fast drinkers the solution would be the hamster bottle.

| We have been using a water bottle for several years. It works perfectly for slowing them down and less mess too.

| That's a really good idea! I need to try this for Momo, he eats so fast & gulps air. He also licks every furry body's bowls shiny clean! I have an interesting story about the water bottle converters I sell. I had a lady from a primate sanctuary contact me & she ordered a bunch of them for her rescued primates! It works well for monkeys too.

| Well we know yorkies are really just tiny monkeys! Uni makes a very loud monkey sound too.

| Great Idea I love this idea! Jax eats so fast that he has thrown up a couple of times. I was thinking of putting a golf ball in his food becaues it would be easy to wash but I'm fearful of it being too small although I don;t think he could swallow it. Think I will try this first though. Thanks for the great idea!

| Just last week someone suggested I take a muffin tin, flip it upside down and sprinkle Miss Hoover's food in there so it's more challenging for her to eat it. It did slow her down a fair bit. Also, I recently bought a little treat ball called Slow Kitty. It's a cat food/treat ball that you pour the kibble into and it has little holes in the sides. The dogs roll the ball all over and the kibble falls out...forces them to eat slow. Works like a charm! |

| I have never had to worry about slowing Gracie down when she eats! She will not even eat out of a bowl. Guess I have no suggestions on this one. |

| What a good idea! I'd never think to use that lid! I often feed Tibbe's dinner in a series of 2 or 3 Kong toys he has to bat and roll around to dislodge the kibble pieces. He has to work to get each piece of kibble out or at most gets 2 or 3 out at once if no canned food is intermixd. It can take him up to 45 minutes to eat his meal that way and he gets so excited when I tell him he's having a Kong Dinner!
