| trouble housebreaking Hi Fellow yorkie lovers, I have 2 yorkies that are 3 and 4 years old. Every once in a while I find an accident in the house. When they have to go out they will circle at the door to signal they need to go out but it seems if you don't pick up on this they just go in the house. I always thought that if a dog tells you when they need to go outside they are house trained but I guess I'm wrong about that. I'm at my Witt's end and don't know how to correct the problem because I never see them do it. HELP! |

| If I needed to pee so badly and there was no restroom, I start looking for a dark alley, a bush, behind a parked car, you get the point. Your dogs need to go when they need to go. They are telling you, but since they don't have a doggy door to go out themselves, and obviously can't open the door, they will hold it as long as they can. My advice is to keep them on a schedule. Feed and potty times at the same time everyday. Dogs like a schedule anyway. They like predictability. If you will be gone for a long time, you need to confine them in a crate or in an ex pen in a section of the house and leave pee pads down for them. Also you need to clean the areas where you have found pee with a special enzyme cleaner. Even though we humans can't smell the urine, the dogs can, and will go in the spot again.
