| Still losing baby teeth at 10.5 months? I just noticed Cookie has a very loose tooth on the upper back of her jaw. It looks like there is another tooth on the inside as if it's a baby tooth being pushed out by a permanent one growing in. I can't imagine my vet would have missed it during her spay in November, but it seems like it's being pushed out by another tooth. Is that even possible to have a permanent tooth start really showing up after 7 months? She gets her teeth brushed every night, her breath smells great, her gums look healthy. I mean it doesn't look rotten or anything. Has anyone seen an adult tooth come in so late though?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, they can get their adult teeth this late, they are rarely all in at 7 months, but enough are in so that they can pull baby teeth and dog still has enough teeth to chew. Since the tooth is loosening, I would hope that Cookie will lose it on her own, but I would call the vet and tell them what's happening. I really think it's great to have a good phone relationship with your vet and his staff. By the way, dogs usually don't have to worry about cavities, they have to worry about tartar and gum disease, and that's why the lose teeth, but she's too young for that to be happening.

| Cook's teeth get brushed every single day since we got her, and her teeth, gums, and breath were in tip-top shape when I got her from Deb. I know how awful gum disease can be (leading to things like an enlarged heart), so her dental health has always been really important. It freaked me out when I saw it last night because I figured she only had permanent teeth now, but this morning I saw she had a tooth pushing it out. It's definitely hanging by a thread and should come out pretty soon, so I don't think it necessitates a trip to the vet. I was just wondering if it's more likely it started growing this late, or that my vet just missed it back in November when he pulled 3 baby teeth after her spay.

YT 1000 Club Member | Hopefully, all the prems are in by 1 year. If not, then ck with your Vet for extractions. That's about as far as I let my guys go. If the primaries are left in too long, the can interfere with proper growth, and not let the perms migrate into a good location.

| It looks like this tooth in the picture here: leftmost tooth on the top (this is from a different yorkie; I can't imagine Cookie letting me take a pic of her mouth): http://steventyler.files.wordpress.c...1/img_0899.jpg There is definitely a tooth growing inside of there, but it's much smaller. The smaller one on the inside is the permanent tooth and the loose one on the outside is the baby?

| Mickey has baby teeth still not fallen out that are in combination to permanent teeth. I am still researching trying to find out if I should wait or go ahead and allow vet to remove. If anyone can help with info or suggestions. I would appreciate it. Thanks. Im in the same boat. So I'm sure its normal. Common as Ive read. Im just unsure on how to deal with and at what terms.

| The tooth came out the same night I made this thread. Sorry I didn't update; I thought I did.
