| What to expect when traveling with my Yorkie We are going to the beach for a couple of nights. We are bringing our 6 month old Yorkie, Chloe. We have never traveled with a puppy before. Does anyone have advise for us? We are excited but nervous. |

| I'll just address part of the travel issue. Be sure your baby is microchipped, the contact information on the chip website is correct and she is wearing ID tags and the numbers on the ID will get the call to you on vacation. Dogs left in the rooms can get let out by the housekeeper even when there is notification a dog is in the room at the hotel desk and with the housekeeping department and even if the dog is closed in the bathroom or a crate. Housekeepers can open the crate or bathroom door to play with the dog, clean the room or a dog can sometimes get out of his crate on his own. We recently had a Yorkie of a member here lost for 3 weeks at the vacation site when her Yorkie was let out of the room by a careless housekeeper and it was only by chance he was finally found, as he had no microchip at the time. Be sure he's current on his shots and that you have copies of his medical records with you in case he gets ill/injured. If he's on meds or his heartworm preventative will come due while you are away, be sure you have all that with you to give him. Have current photos of him and whatever proof of ownership you have if you want to be ultra-safe.

| She has all her shots and will have had them for two weeks before you leave right? That is a must or she could get very sick. Has she rode in the car before? Do you have a harness that attaches to the seat belt or a carseat or crate for her to be in?

Senior Yorkie Talker | We have just come back from two weeks on the beach with Bull, who is now 10 months old. We went by car, it was a seven hour ride. Bull went in the back seat next to my daughter with a bed and his seat belt, of course. He did GREAT the whole seven hours. We stopped three times for him to go to the bathroom and I carried a travelling water bottle and bowl set. I was worried because he didn't drink much, but he was great, so I guess he just was not that thirsty. He carried his tags everywhere, and since I am kind of paranoid that he might get lost or stolen, he simply went everywhere with us. I never left him alone in the room. He is very well behaved so that was not a problem. Anyway, I had taken to carriers with me, one that is more like a bag, and the other one that is more rigid, so that I could close it completely if we went somewhere where he was not that welcome. But it was not necessary, he was more than welcome everywhere, he even visited a museum with us. I also took his shampoo, conditioner and brush, and I brushed off the sand every night and bathed him once. I carried his towel also and a few toys. It was a wonderful experience, he loved it but he was super happy to meet the rest of the gang ( my four other dogs when we came back ). I'll post picture in the pictures section as soon as I download them! Oh! And I also carried a life vest, because he loves swimming, and I was a bit afraid of the sea! Hope you have a good time!
