| A brother for Ellie??? My Ellie is a year old and I'm considering getting her a playmate. I'm nervous because she's such a good girl, all trained and VERY spoiled!! Will she change, will she get jealous?? I'm looking at a Bichon/yorkie mix adorable!!! |

| Recently read on here, that dogs prefer their own breed, might be worth checking out. Our Caleb's about 10 months and we've just added a pup to our family. He too is so well behaved, a real gent, and we had the same fears as you. It's gone so well. By greeting him first, extra praise for him, putting him first in everything...feeding, petting,play,etc.. It's worked out well. He was unsettled for 3 days, but soon saw he hadn't lost his place. He adores her and she adores him. He searches her out now and wants to cuddle up with her (except at night -she's crated) So I'd say go for it. Watching them play together is such a joy. Yours is a great age for a play mate. Good luck

| I added my female when my male was 1.5 years old. It worked out well and he loves his little sister. He knows he is my #1, so it's not an issue. I still (even though they are 5 and 4 now) feed him first, give him treats first, love on him first etc. I think that really helped with the jealousy.

| Thank you, that makes me feel better, I would never want her to feel left out, she's my #1 baby . I'm still looking around and hopefully will know its right. |
