| New to site: sick Female 5 yrs old , my baby my baby is 5 yrs old, a rescue from an abusive home when she was 2 . Her name : Buttons , AWWWW!!! My baby, I love her sooo much , she's a LIL sweetheart & VERY attached to my husband & I , she has learned to trust & more imp that she can trust & that she is loved dearly. Past week she has been not herself , kinda BLAH , no energy, got sick threw up once or twice one day , then bounce back next day ok. Then sick again , no energy, no appetite, weak feeling & vomited 3 times today ( over approx 8 hr span) . All week she has had that on/ off Blah, sick at stomach, vomit , nausea, but would bounce back, todayALL SYMPTOMS have gradually gotten worse leaving her very weak &NO APPETITE, NO ENERGY. has continued to drink water all day & all weak long during . No diarrhea , has gone poo poo couple more times today than usual but no diarrhea . My worries after studying on all day ( worried ) , she has lost weight over the last month( but did need to loose weight per vet , weighed 10 lbs at vet about 8/9 months ago,he said needed to weigh no more than 7 , so didn't worry much about weight loss) maybe I should have??? She has also over last month been drinking ALOT more water, again, I just assumed due to heat running in home cause she does have allergies & takes Claritin as needed. She has been tee tee ALOT more often too, again,I assumed was due to drinking more water?? Went outside to tee tee later tonight & was so weak hardly walked & not at All herself. Ended up picking her up to bring her back in. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME ANY , AT LEAST UNTIL THE VET OPENS, ( of which I pray gets better for her & I can't afford vet bills , on S.S. disability. Early retirement from Nursing due to my health . Anyways, please help if can suggest anything !!! |

| Hi & Welcome to YT ! I'm sorry your baby is sick . In my honest opinion she needs to see the vet ASAP. Loosing wt so fast is not a good sigh & with the vomiting she's most likely dehydrated & that can lead to kidney failure. Also you say she seems to be urinating more often & that along with her other symptoms needs to be considered an Emergency at this point. I'll be Praying for her. Please update after her vet visit. |

| Welcome to YT. I would suggest you find another vet. It seems clear there is an issue with your baby girl, and your concerns deserve the respect of a vet that can either explane to you in detail, all questions you have about what is going on with your pup, or initiate some steps to resolve what is going on with Buttons. Please seek the help of another vet, preferably one well educated in small dog care. If possible, I would suggest you seek the help of a specialist....is there a vet school you can take her to? These little dogs can go downhill so rapidly, wasted time is your worst enemy....move quickly and get the help you need from another vet. |

| I'm so sorry that Buttons is so sick. I think she needs to see a vet. The fact that she is so lethargic really scares me. So many things could be causing her symptoms, but it may be her kidneys. That can cause weight loss, lethargy, more water intake, etc., but so could diabetes. Without blood work, we would only be guessing. I really hope it's something simple that can easily be treated.

| sorry to hear it. Did they test for a uti? left undiagnosed they can get pretty sick and lethargic and can lead to kidney problems. Its a simple test and some antibiotics..either way I would get her to the vet. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome. Sorry Buttons is feeling sick. She really needs to see a vet asap to figure out what is wrong and get her treatment. Hopefully, it's something a little medicine will make her better. If you can apply for a Care Credit card many vets take that. It is a 0 or low interest credit card accepted by many vets and doctors. Please keep us posted.

| PLEASE FORGIVE MY DELAY, on the update on baby, "Buttons". This year has def started off to be a tried one. However, I am glad & forever GRATEFUL to one remarkable vet hospital & my baby's will to live . We survived it all !!! Before I start I would like to say THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH !!!!! I have NEVER seen such a response about Buttons & so many ppl that were genuinely concerned about her well being & my peace of mind as her Mommy .i am still learning how to Navigate on here & I am not from the computer friendly generation at that . So please excuse any mishaps & uh oh's again Buttons & I TRULY MEAN IT FROM OUR HEARTS when we say , THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!! The days to follow my post (2 to be exact ) she only got worse over the weekend & the hospital was closed . The nausea, vomiting & weakness. Not eating or drinking at all & sooooo weak . I cried til I could not cry anymore. That next morning when the vet hosp opened @ 7:00 am , we were there. He did lab , started an IV pushing fluids, she was very dehydrated & weak. Her white cell count was 76,000 when it should be not over 17,000. Major infection doc said but did not know where. Her Blood Sugar was 410 & should be not over 110 , just as in a human . She also had that fruity smell to her breath , which turns out after many test to be sure . Buttons was diagnosed as , an insulin dependant Diabetic !!! He told my husband & I he would do all he could , but he did not know if she would even make it thru the nite. For us to come back each day if we wanted & we could visit with her. My husband & I BOTH left there that day just Boo Hoo' ING , we cried all day , shut ourself inside & prob didn't say 2 words to even each other , just depressed & so sad & so worried & crying. We went EVERYDAY for the next week that she had to stay in the hospital , did not miss one day & we sat & held her & told her how much we loved her & how she could fight this ,etc, etc, it was a very long week . Needless to say, the vet called us & told us , he was VERY SURPRISED AT HOW WELL SHE HAD DONE & responded to the diet & insulin injections& she needed to come home. He was starting to see signs of her grieving herself over being away from us . He had wanted to keep her a couple more days but she was responding much better than he ever thoughts. He really did not think she would make it thru the night we first brought her . So we went to get our LIL Buttons & her antibiotics to finish, her insulin( which by the way is the exact same one as humans ) insulin ( cloudy one ) 70/30 & she is on 2 shots a day 4 units each shot. Her special diet ( canned food from vet rx kind ) so he can judge her calories per day & see how the 4 units are doing her & this is the best way to know her calories. 1/2 can for B'fast & 4 units insulin & the other 1/2 can for dinner & 4 units insulin. And NOTHING ELSE TO EAT AT ALL, NO MORE, NO LESS. VERY HARD ON HER & us but we have not wavered at all . We are not having to check her BS at this time but maybe later in he said . She seems to be doing great & she goes back this Friday to have her lab work done & see how well she is doing & her BS readings . I hope they are great , she seems like a totally diff little girl now . Still a ways to go I think as to how much to be exact I think , but well on her way !!!! She is back to her usual little sweetheart precious ways . I have learned one true thing in this LIL journey we took with our fur baby & that is :: I never really knew JUST HOW MUCH I loved my Buttons & my husband as well . I knew he was ATTATCHED to her & she definitely him, but he loves her as much as I do & well, I guess it took us almost loosing her before we REALLY knew just HOW deep that love is. She is Truly OUR BABY , OUR FAMILY MEMBER, OUR SWEETHEART, OUR PRECIOUS LITTLE BUTTONS !!!!! Thank you Dear God for saving her for us . WE need HER , much more than she needs us !!!!!! We Are BLESSED that we have her in our life , she has SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE for such a lLITTLE one of Gods Precious Creations !!!!! " MOMMY & DADDY LOVE YOU TO THE MOON & BACK BUTTONS !! |

| Thank God she lived as it sounds like she was on deaths door. With this diagnosis, you MUST get her to a vet or ER if after hrs if she has another episode. You were VERY lucky you didn't loose her from this & the next time you may not be so lucky, in fact there is really no good explanation as to why you didn't loose her this time as that's way too long for her to have gone untreated in her condition. Thank You for the update & I'm so glad she's ok. I'll be Praying for little miss Buttons. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Thank you for updating on Buttons! Thank the Lord for watching over her until you were able to get her in to the vet! Buttons had to have an angel watching over her by the sounds of how ill she was. Cuddles and kisses to Buttons!
