| Obsessed with shadows My five-month-old girl Piper used to sleep downstairs in her crate, until we recently decided she was big enough to sleep in the bed with us and our other yorkie. She loves being in the big bed and snuggling with her pack, and the older boy accepts her being there...but she barks like a maniac. Even with all the lights out, she remembers that the first time she was up there she saw shadows on the walls. She presumably thinks the shadows are monsters (doesn't recognize her own reflection in a mirror, either), so she stays anxious at night and prone to fits of barking (we call this a RUDE AWAKENING for the rest of us who were sound asleep). During the day, now, she's started squeezing through the baby gate to go upstairs and bark at the wall where she saw the shadows. I'm not sure how to stop this behavior and soothe her fears/obsession.

| Mine did too Zoeys getting better at that , I think they will grow out of it. Just keep consoling her and give comfort key words like "it's ok".... Shhhh...... Make her feel safe and try to make it go away or remove |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy went through a period like that when she was real young. I'd go out at night with her with outs side lights on. All shadows freaked her out. I kept reasuring her, 'It's OK' or whatever calmed her. She gradually grew out of it. I think we may have left some dim lights on all night too for a few months. Unexpected light reflections could sometimes worry her. Yours should grow out of a lot of this. Good luck!

| Thanks, Zoey Zandaya and RoxyLuv. It's so reassuring to think that she may be able to outgrow this. I was starting to think she has an anxiety problem or something.

| So much energy in the younger pups... We got an older dog so missed out on the "fun". |
