| Sandy the Rescue Poodle I know this is a Yorkie Forum but I really want the opinions of some of my fellow YTers who are either involved with rescue or has a rescue. As some of you know I volunteer at a local rescue here in Atlanta (Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption). I have been given the opportunity to adopt a very special little poodle girl named Sandy Sandy . I would love to bring Sandy into my home but I have some mixed feelings due to Sophie Kate. Sophie Kate is very much a Momma's girl, she is very bonded to me and sometimes has some protection aggression towards other dogs who come near me. Not acceptable and we continue to work on it but honestly I don't know if she will ever get past this behavior. Sandy is a sweet little Puppy Mill dog who honestly needs a person to love her, she is bonding quickly with her Foster Mom and her Foster Mom is bonding with her (that is the problem, Foster Mom cannot keep her and wants to make sure she goes to the right home). Thoughts please, and don't worry if you want to tell me you think it is a bad idea -I am flip flopping all over the place but honestly Sophie Kate is my first priority and if she is going to never let the other dog get near me that is not the life for Sandy. I want Sandy to have the best rest of her life as possible. I also plan on talking with my Vet, she is involved in rescue and is probably the second person in this world who knows Sophie Kate the best (me being first).

| IMO, you won't know until you try it. Princeton is very attached to mamma and he is possessive aggressive over me with certain dogs, but he's good with others. It really took the "right dog" coming into our house to make things work. Maybe the poodle will be a right match for Sophie Kate, maybe not. Is there any way you can do a trail run with her to see how things go?? I was really unsure how Princeton would be when we got Ricky. I was hoping that they'd become best of friends, but I was afraid Princeton would be jealous and depressed because he had to share me. Luckily, the boys became best friends and they are great company for each other....so it all worked out for us! Hopefully it will work out for Sophie Kate and Sandy!! |

| Have you introduced Sandy to Sophie Kate? I had the same worries about Gizmo when we rescued Cici. He was excited when we first got her then, when she didn't leave after a day he got aggressive but we nipped it in the butt real quick and dd not allow them to be home alone together until we were sure nothing was going to happen. But now a year later they love to play around and are really good friends. |

| I think it is wonderful that you are thinking of having Sandy join your family. Why don't you have Sandy come over for a play date and see how well they get along. I hope it works out for all of you. |

| Could you do a trial run with Sandy? It wouldn't be fair to take her in forever unless you knew she would mesh well with Sophie Kate.
