Yorkie Yakker | could be hood at the Yorkie's jacket harmful for ears...? Hi, two days ago I met a starnge woman who told me some offensive things and also that I am hurting mu dog by making it wear a jacket with a hoodie... cause the movement of the hood is harmful for very sensitive ears, I think she was crazy. I have nowwwhere found any information concerning this! Only that a hoodie is more decoartive rather than useful. Below I post a pick of my Yorkie. | A hood will not hurt your dog's ears. There are some very silly people out there. Your baby looks great in the coat.

| Both my dogs have coats with hoods. When it's cold, I put them up. It may block their vision a little....but I've found that my boys ears get cold, just like ours do. |

| We have lots of hoodues here in many different weights of fabrics...from T-shirt knit to fleece to heavy winter coat weights...even raincoats. I put the hoods up sometimes...if it is cold or rainy...otherwise, the hoods stay back. No biggie either way...no harm to the ears. There is no way I know of to 'fix stupid' so I would ignore what that lady said. Your Pippi is adorable!

| I don't like hoods because they seem useless to me, never fit right and can get caught on things. I guess if it is over there ears and makes any kind of noise with the fabric rubbing against itself and there hearing being magnified it could I guess hurt there ears. I don't think cotton though makes any noise when rubbed against itself but other fabrics might.

| It seems that having a Yorkie is a lot like having a bay, people are always going to be sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. I always tried to ignore those people when my son's were babies, and I ignore them where Gina is ignored. When someone tells me I'm doing something wrong with Gina, or Megan when we had her, I always asked if they had a Yorkie, if not I just walked away, if yes I would ask why. Jim Morrison said it best "People are Strange." Gina won't wear a hood, but I try to make her when it's raining, oh well, what can you do. Cheers Quad & Gina

| I don't think a hoodie would hurt a dog's ears but I really don't think they are necessary for most dogs. I think that because hoodies are so popular for humans designers have decided that dogs need to have them as well. Gracie hates hoods so I try to avoid buying them but it is getting hard to find a jacket or coat that does not have a hood of some sort anymore. I did get her some cute fleece jackets this year. One of her coats does have a hood on it but it is removable so she is good with it. |

| Has anyone tried putting a hat on their yorkies...and if so, do you prefer having them with ear slots or without ear slots?? I ask because I know my little guys head gets cold...hence him wearing hoods a lot. I've never bought a hat for him, but I've been considering it. He doesn't seem to enjoy the hoods a lot...but I know he hates being cold too!! |

I have seen some of the cutest hats on etsy.com that have slits for upright ears to stick out. They are mainly for show but they are really darling to look at. | |
