| Looking for help, can someone take her? I'm not really familiar with forums or blogs or any of this really. I joined this community for one reason and one reason only; I knew that there were 35,000 members here who love Yorkies and my wife and I are desperate. Our current state, finances, and priorities will not allow us to keep the Yorkie we have with us right now. Below is Bailey's story, feel free to direct me to a different part of the forum if needed. A little over two years ago we got a miniature Yorkie from a kind gentleman who saved her from a puppy mill. We named her Bailey. We were new to Yorkies (really dog owning in general) but this little < 5lb cutie stole our heats. She was timid and playful and not as yippey as most Yorkies I had seen in the past. We love our Bailey. A few days after we brought her home, we found her to be acting really sick a lot. But after a visit to the vet, we found the "problem". Our little 5lb joy was prego with a 1lb puppy! Long story short, the C-section went smoothly and Little Jack came into the world (a rambunctious > 5lbs Yorkie-Poo...who knows, right?). Not even three months after Jack was born, as things were returning to "normal" we noticed sickness flaring up again. Back to the vet we went, and home with a diagnosis of colitis. We really thought that this was going to put us over the edge. Being a young married couple, with money being tight, we were strapped and desperate. We love our puppy, but if we could not take care of her, something was going to have to change. Luckily we soon found a food that did not upset her stomach (Science Diet - Sensitive Stomach), something we were able to afford and Bailey really seems to like it. Fast-forward to recently. Bailey has had some teeth issues (what I found to be common in these toy breeds). She had work done before we got her and we have tried to keep them as clean as possible, but the damage is done. The vet wants more than $400 to clean and pull a few teeth, with the possibility of all teeth needing to be pulled (more money in the future). We have been aware of this and were trying to decide what to do, when Thanksgiving 2013 happened. Bailey came down with a serious bladder infection/UTI and, after another vet visit, has accrued some bladder stones. One of which she has passed and she is on a special diet to shrink those left. This diet is a trial and there is no promise from the vet that Bailey will not need surgery in the near future to remove the stones (an additional $400-$500) My wife and I love our dog, but we want to do what's right and what's responsible. We are currently saving for adoption and the money we spend each month on vet bills has taken us away from our saving goals in this. Neither one of us want to have Bailey euthanized, we are not looking for an easy way out. Our first thought was the Humane Society near our house, but I wanted to find a Yorkie Lover that maybe had the means to help her. So, there's my shameless plea. Is there anyone who could take in a sweet, loving, timid, Yorkie who will need a lot more care than we can afford to give her. I know coming here, I can find people with the right priorities and means to make her life happier than we are able to. God bless you all. Thanks for hearing our story. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I can't take on another pup at this time but I'll surely "Bump" this thread for little Bailey! Please don't let her go unspayed to just anyone!

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | Maybe check out a rescue for yorkies. I do not think the humane society is the right answer that kind of stress on a pup that is already sick would not be good.

| A Yorkie rescue organization might be ideal for this little girl. I volunteer for YTNR (Yorkshire terrier national rescue) but am unsure if we have people in your area. You can try to contact them through yorkierescue.com. Another good rescue that may be able to help is Yorkie Haven. A member here, Ladyjane, is an active member of Yorkie haven. Maybe she can help?

| She is a cutie! I am contacting a few of my friends with her picture. I live a few hours from you. I would love to take her, but I have 3 already and would miss my husband when he left me. Please don't do anything too quickly, unless you find a great situation.
