| Bones for Yorkies? Help! Hi! I just got another Yorkie, his name is Simon and he is almost 7 months old. My Stella will be 9 months soon. They both love to chew on bones and I have tried the nylabones, but they both will not chew on them at all. They would rather find something in the yard, bring it inside, and try to hide it from me so they can chew on it. So....I really need some advice on what to give them that they can chew on that Simon won't eat like a meal. He will literally eat a dingo bone in an hour when Stella could have one for weeks. Please...I need suggestions! Thanks!

| Himalayan Chews I use the Himalayan Chews. They are REALLY hard but they won't have a piece break off and cause blockages. Not everybody likes them.

| I buy these for Gizmo, and they take a long time for him plus he loves them :-) N-Bone , I also buy the vanilla mint dental sticks that also last a long time. Their products are all natural, and they have a ton of different catagories of chews depending on your fur babies needs :-) He's really funny when he gets any of them, he will hide them really frantically over and over between chewing them, because I think he thinks he must have been given them by accident because they taste so good to him LOL. He won't even touch the nylabones at all, but any of the chews from this company he goes crazy over. With the chew rings, I will usually break them into 4 pieces, and give him a piece every couple days, or alternate a dental chew on one day a week. My vet said his teeth are so clean with no tartar or anything, so apparently the dental chews are working for keeping his teeth real clean. The only thing is their paws and face get a little messy as they break them down, but they last a long time, and I just use a warm moist wash cloth to wash his face and paws once he's done :-) |

| Nbone has little chewy like bones and as well as get naked chews. Bully sticks can break teeth they did my yorkie and I never thought it would happen to my dog, Himalayan Chews and antlers are even harder then bully sticks so they can really break teeth. Rawhide is very bad and can cause blockages.

| We give Himalayan chews and haven't had a problem with their teeth. I bought an antler once, Uni didn't even give it a second look. Big waste of money and those things are pricey. Uni loved Bullys but I cannot stand the smell. Even the "odorless" ones I find smell really disgusting. She actually loved them so much they would cause fights. if anyone walked by her she would turn into Cujo.

| I give my two the odorless bully sticks. It's the only thing that they seem to like, not cause a mess, and last more than 30 min. I only give it to them when I'm home though to make sure they don't swallow it or anything. But some dogs don't seem to digest it too well. From what I've seen, the most issues I've seen was diarrhea. I have heard that it can break teeth. Magnus is 15.5 lbs and he chews on it first to make it soft and soggy. Then Zoey (5.5 lbs) "steals" it from Magnus. So far, I haven't had any issue with them. You can make home made chew with sweet potato. There are recepies if you search for them. |

| Jackson won't chew on nylabones either... he actually doesn't like himalayans or antlers anyway, or much else... besides bully sticks. We buy bully's very occasionally now, we honestly haven't in months, but they are the only thing he will chew on and takes him a while and keeps him entertained. He likes them, they don't cause any stomach upset, and when he chews them, he chews them slowly and gets them soft, and never tries to gulp like he did w/ rawhides. I only do certain types though. Some are really nasty....

| Thankfully my sense of smell isn't that great, cuz the bully sticks don't bother me so much. There's an icky brand (I forget the name- step-daughter got them in bulk at Costco) that Billi likes. They're just ok, I prolly won't get them again. They're huge anyway. I usually get the "True Chews" brand of bully sticks from PetSmart. They're not very smelly IMO and they a much more reasonable size for Billi. She loves em and that's enough for me. She won't chew on anything else, but rawhide, which for reasons others mentioned above, are forbidden for her.

| Amy gets bully sticks and Himalayan chews but only when we are with her. Does every now and then like the nylonbones but I soak them in fat free chicken or beef broth over night. |

| Molly & Maggie both love their bully sticks. However, they give Maggie diarrhea so I had to put them away Not sure what else to try for her. She is bigger than Molly and her tummy is more sensitive. I received some regular bones in a bark box, are they ok to give to the girls?

| Gracie has chewed bully sticks for the past 3 years and has never had an issue with them. Many others use bully sticks and their dogs love them. They are all natural and soften as the dog chews on them. Gracie is a 5lb dog and I buy her the regular thickness 12" sticks. They are about as long as she is but she doesn't mind. I always throw them away when they are about 3 or 4" long so we have no choking issues. I do advise people to buy the Best Bully brand because they are not as soft as some brands. Some companies do not bake theirs long enough and so they are way to soft and the dog can consume way too much of them. Some small dogs can get digestive upsets when they eat too much of a protein product at once. The dog should have to chew a long time in order to soften the end of the stick. If a dog is eating a stick right up then it is not a good quality bully stick. As the stick softens it helps to clean teeth and gums. If you take the stick away and let it sit for a while it will harden up again. The Best Bully sticks are a good quality protein, not like rawhide, and are completely digestible. My little girl had a terrible issue with chewing until I found the sticks. She was always stealing things off of tables, out of closets, etc., because she had such a need to chew. Now that she is a mature 3 year old she does not chew as much as she did when she was a pup but she still has the need to chew occasionally. I always keep a supply on hand for when she has the urge. |
