| Is there a way to tell what color a Yorkie will be? I was wondering is there a way to tell what color a yorkie puppy will be once he/she is older? Leo is 11wks old now, and he's still black, starting to get light gray strands of hair on his face. Also, do you think his ears will go up, or will they stay floppy?

| Usually they have coats similar to their parents. It is hard to tell but it looks like dad is dark so he might never change colors. Also it looks likes dads ears are floppy which us a dominant trait. |

| I have been waiting two years for the answer to that question with my Lexi. Vet says they can change up to three years and beyond. With Lexi, her dad was pretty dark, her mom was really light, and so far, Lexi is somewhere between them kind of a blueish, grayish, tanish. I think it is so fun to watch her change. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 |

| The only thing that has changed in Samson's coat is his face got some silver...otherwise black and tan....his whole back is black. Oh and his ears couldn't make up their mind till about 8 months old. Lol |

| Oh, cool! Zoey is silver, so I think it'll be awesome if Leo stays dark. Leo's Mom has erect ears. I like the look of the erect ears, but if his stay floppy thats okay. Is there any way I can possibly help his ears go up?

| breeders will often tape them up, and shave them as well. I have seen threads on how to do it or you can goggle it. perhaps a breeder will chime in and explain. Some say after teething they can go up as well. Either way he is a beautiful boy, with a very cute face

| I love your boy's floppy ears, but if I was going to mess with them I'd try to get one ear up, one ear down. It's such a cute look for this yorkie named Teddy on this site. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=127458

| He is adorable. Color can be difficult to predict. My boys have changed so much over the last 4 to 5 years. They are still changing.

| So cute! Gizmo was almost all black with brown eyebrows and toes and his brown slowly grew. At 2 gizmo is still black and brown but his undercoat is silver/blue. They change for so long its crazy. When we got Gizmo his ears were floppy too and I didn't like the idea of taping them so whenever he would fall asleep I would move them so they stood up and I want to say around 5 months they stayed. Now I wish he had floppy ears still since it is so cute. But his satilite dishes that are constantly on the move are pretty cute too. I guess I'm indecisive. |

| If you shave the hair on the ears it will help them to stand up. You can also tape them to get them to stand. Depending on the size if the ears. The head will break and turn into the gold colors usually, however if the coat is modified, the head can be a greyish color instead of the golds, this happens when they are modified in coat color. Your pup is very cute and wishing you the best for lots of love always.

Just looked at the pic... what a cutie! When my Bailey was a pup, now almost 2yo, he went through a time where both ears were up and then later both were down. I have had groomers ask whether I would like them to shave his ears to make both stand up and I replied no. I thought it would be cute, and different, if one was down and one was up. His ears finally made up their minds, and, as per my wish, he has one up and one down. Such a cute look. I think it adds to his personality Now, if only I could wish the lotto numbers I would be set. Haha. Cheers! | |
