YT Addict | Need Help! So long story short, last week my fiancee and I went out of town and there were no dogs allowed so Ellie stayed with my parents and Lilly Anne stayed with his. The reason for this is my parents will only let Ellie stay since she is house trained and Lilly Ann isn't quite yet. Well yesterday we went and got them both and I noticed Lilly Anne scratching. Turns out she has fleas all over here from his parents dog. They get flea medicine every month, but I guess hers had just worn off because they are scheduled to get their new medicine next week. I bathed her with Dawn and flea stuff and got them all off, but she has sores all on her from where she has scratched and bit at the fleas all week. I feel horrible for her, even though it wasnt' something I knew that their dog had. Needless to say she wont be staying there ever again, but is there anything I can put on the sores to make them better? Or should she be looked at by the vet?

| I think it's better to let the vet look her over just to be on the safe side. If she got fleas over there, who knows what else she might've picked up? In the meantime, you should probably put a soft collar or onesi so she won't scratch too much and make her sores worse. I hope she gets better soon! |

| You can use hydrocordizone cream on her. We mix it with water and spray it on Laddy to help with itching. I agree a vet check would be wise.

| Sorry to hear about the fleas!!! My Bailey just went through this. After some time of him scratching, flea medication, flea bath and changing foods, he was still scratching and there were no apparent fleas left. I then took him to the vet. I was told that he was still scratching because by now it was an irritation. Then Bailey was given an anti-histamine shot and the scratching stopped pretty much immediately. YAY!! I was so relieved to see this, as it was tough watching him scratch and scratch and scratch. Bailey had some bald spots due to all the scratching, which happened over time so it wasn't noticeable at first. The hair is growing back All the best with your precious one. |

| Jut went through fleas a few months ago...and my boys itched and itched. I used hydrocortinzone cream and I covered them up with clothes so they couldn't scratch themselves raw. I've used benedryl in the past to help with the itching, but my vets gave my older guy steroids this time around and it did seem to help a lot more than benedryl. I used a product called "Knockout" in my house. It's made by Virbac and I got it at the vets office. It's a spray that you can use on your furniture and their bedding. I am not very fond of using any kind of chemicals in my house, but I could not get rid of the little buggers....finally after using that, and a natural flea bath, with frontline and sentinal on the boys, I was able to get rid of them....but they were itching for a LONG time afterwards. Still not sure how much of the itching was fleas and how much was seasonal allergies, but they were itching for a good month or 2 after I found my last flea. |

YT Addict | Thanks so much for all the suggestions! We have never had any problems at all until now. Thankfully they are not in our house. She is still scratching so I think a vet visit will be on the agenda tomorrow. I'm nt going to lie I was mad that she got them from their house but I'm trying to remember that not everyone thinks as much about their dogs as I do.

| I don't see why u would stop ur girl from going and staying there again. because of fleas, dogs get fleas, even from parks grass ect, I would understand if they did not look after ur baby well , my old boy bailie was allergic to flea bites and he would break out in sores that's why treating every month was a must, but he still got the odd flea in his day lol

YT Addict | Well it's not only the fleas. They let their chi dog run around and okay outside by itself and they live near a busy highway and I never let my dogs outside without me and a leash. And during lilly Anne's stay they let her run around outside with their dog. And I specifically asked them not to let her do that. I can handle the fleas because I do understand every dog gets them every now and then, but I don't like that. I love his parents to death but That arrangement just didn't work out to well for us.

YT Addict | Thank you all for the well wishes! She is seeming to be a little bit better, but she still has an appointment later on today. I have checked her over and over and have not seen any fleas on her but she is still scratching. Hopefully we will get this all fixed today!
