| Is it too late to fix my 4 year old male? I have 2 fixed male chihuahuas but my 4 year old yorkie is not. Sometimes he gets obsessed with the chihuahuas, like they've picked up a scent of another female in heat, and follows them around constantly, trying to mount them. He's also getting worse with marking. If I have him fixed now, will this help these behaviors or are they too much of a habit by now? TIA |

| I can tell you that my 10 year old male was fixed when he was 7 years old...after he was used as a stud dog for a breeder. He does lift his leg to pee, but he doesn't try to hump anything. I think it also helped his personality out. He's very fearful of strangers, but he is less fearful than he used to be. |

| I believe it will help some but the marking may never completely stop. I would suggest a neuter though either way it will be better for him and then you can try to retrain on the marking after he is neutered.

| We had Laddy fixed at 3 years old. He always marked but thank goodness only outside. Now he has even quit that. After you get your little man fixed you need to get a good enzyme cleaner and clean all your carpets to completely remove all the urine. It should help tremendously.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | We neutered a 3 year old cocker rescue. It reduced some of the marking and most if the humping, but didn't eliminate it completely. Testosterone is produced by both the testicles and by the adrenal glands. Neutering will reduce testosterone levels by about 90%, but not get rid of it completely.

| Presley was fixed at 7. He marked everywhere and humped everything. He still did a bit of humping. He stopped around 15 though. He is 17 now.
