2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Cage training work wonders if its done correctly. It may be necessary for her to be in her cage until she get fully potty trained. Plus having a set routine for feeding and potty time will also help tremendously. Praising and treats help also. Be sure that you never use her cage for punishment, that will send a bad message that the cage is a bad place to be. When she does go potty outside, praising her for a job well done will work and giving her a treat (cheerio cereal) will help her get the hang of it too. You must be willing to spend long periods of time out doors with her until she gets it. Which wont be easy with cooler weather and winter on its way. (you may want to put a sweater on her). You can find more ways to train your pup on my web site. Hopefully you can find something that helps. www.dawnsyorkies.weebly.com/training-tips One things that worked for me was to take some poo outside and put it in the yard where you want her to go potty. Sounds kind of goose, yes I know, but it works simply because dogs are creatures of habit and they use their sense of smell to figure out pretty much everything in life. When she smells her poo she will be more willing to go #2 outdoors and reuse that same area time and time again.

| The poor thing being shuffled from home to home its tough on them. Yorkies can be known to be stubborn with potty training. Have you tried taking her poo outside and putting it where you want her to go?

YorkieTalk Newbie! | HI yes someone said take it put it outside i did that just once. Its frustrating to take her out then she goes inside. We never crated our dogs. But i heard the same thing do not do it for punishment. And i give her lots of praise when she goes. I will try your site. Thanks |

| YORKIES are extremely stubborn when it comes to training. For one thing, she's probably confused being in different houses. Patience is the key.......it takes time! Both mine were not accident free until they were about 14 months old. That means they were trained to go out, but would still have accidents in the house periodically. I never used a pee pad when I trained Autumn. But Allie I trained to go on the pad when in the cage. Eventually, I just took it away. I took her out every 20 minutes for months on end. They like to be praised too! My Allie is SUPER proud when I praise her, she actually gets hyper. lol Autumn doesn't really care. I always just tell her that's a good girl. GOOD LUCK! |

| He's only 4 months old........just a baby. I think you have a long way to go yet before he's trained. Just be patient with him. Takes time! Good Luck! |

| everybody has a magic cure for house training a difficult dog. I was on here asking for help myself because I have had dogs all my life 2 and 3 at a time and NEVER did it take more than a week or two to get them house trained. Then we got our Yorkie. I didn't think we would ever get him trained then finally around 8 mos we realized that he wasn't having any accidents. What worked for us was simply persistence. You know the normal times that they go, when they wake up, after they eat, after a rowdy play session, and any time you get a chance in between. Don't scold unless you catch them in the act and then don't go ballistic a few harsh NOs does the trick they get the idea that you are not pleased, and you just have to be vigilant and stick to it your dog will get the idea eventually. It doesn't take crates or pads or tethers mostly persistence. I am sure those other methods have worked for some people but some dogs take longer than others. |

| I forgot about this part, we bought an exercise pen, attached a tarpaulin roof to it to keep the sun and hawks off of him, and placed it on our deck. We put him in it at the standard times and leave him there till he goes. Yes we to have put him out, left him there for a long period of time, brought him in and have him go immediately IN THE HOUSE. All you can do is keep after it, you will eventually get there. |

It is so sad that the others she was with before you did not take the time to properly train her and than just dumped her onto the next family. Now you are left with a difficult dog and the frustration on getting her trained. Don't give up on her she needs you to love and care about her enough to do the right thing and teach her what is expected of her. I wish you much luck and please, please do not get discouraged. At her age it will take persistence and lots of time and patience in order to get her trained but it is doable !!
