| Homer is a handful Well Homer is 8 weeks old today but he thinks he is 4 months old. He is so active and busy My daughter does not know what to do to entertain him . When awake all he wants to do is Play , Chew, Bite and Bark. He has discovered his Pee Papers make great toys. He tries to drag them all around the floor . He is trying to tear them apart . She is a little concerned he will eat them and choke but are they fun. Should she let him play with the papers? He does have lots of toys but he seems to like paper. He does love his Kennel though. He seems to like his bed and has been pretty good at night . He sleeps alot . Last night he went to sleep around 7pm and woke around 3:30 am for a few minutes. Then she was up at 5:30 with him for play and breakfast, pee and poop. The breeder used to put some papers in the front of the Kennel so the pups could go if they needed to go at night . Because he is so young she does the same thing . As he gets older she should be able to remove them from the kennel. She will be at work starting again on Monday and the little guy will be kenneled til 5 so he will need to go somewhere. He has a very large wire crate . How old should the little guy be before she can take him outside to work off some energy ? Thanks for any suggestions. Fran |

| Hi Fran, that sounds just like my Nemo when he was 8wks....I really can't say it has gotten any better at almost eight months, I can't wait for him to slow down a little if it ever happens..... Gale |

| HI there! I was told by my vet that you should not take them outside to pulic areas until they have had there third set of shots. At that age they can very easily pick up any illness. If you have a yard that no other dogs ever go in then it would be fine for the pup to run around out there and burn off some energy . But also be sure to put a sweater or coat on if it is even a little bit chilly. Also, do you have an area to block him in during the day, like a laundry room or an x pen? (try to use baby gates instead of closed doors so they can see whats going on) This way he can run around during the day and not be all well rested for mega playtime all evening!!

| My daughter has a sunken livingroom that has 2 little steps to go up before you get to the main level . Homer has not tried to climb yet but I am sure that is coming. He has his kennel in the living room with the door open so he can run around any time he likes. It just does not seem to tire him out. He is a very busy boy. When its time to crash he goes to his bed all by himself. Here in Nova Scotia we still have lots of snow so he will not be outside for a couple of weeks yet. We can't wait to take him for a walk on a nice sunny day. The leash should be fun . We are concerned about his Kennel . I just read the threads on Product safety that a puppy was killed in the Petsmart kennel seems to be dangerous . Homer has this crate we will take it back to wal-mart (no Receipt though)and try to return it. I see so much on the internet that is great but they do not ship to Canada. Fran |

| My vet said he needed to have the 3rd set of shots before going out in the yard also. He said he needed all shots before going anywhere else. Chachi is a chew monster also. We have found some relief by sticking a small stuffed animals in his mouth every time he starts the chewing. He now lets us pet him at times without attempting to bite. Its progress at least!
