| Question about raw diet So Lui (the poodle we are doggiesitting) is on a raw diet. Since he's been here with us, I haven't seen him drink water. Maybe he drinks but not when we're around? Can this be because of the raw diet?

| Yes, because the raw is mostly water, they don't need to drink as much. My old poodle was on raw and she hardly ever drank water. If you are worried, I would put more water dishes out in different areas, sometimes that helps.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Raw has more moisture, so they drink a bit let. My 3 eat raw though, and I still see them drink water. Also though, since Lui is away from home - stress may be increased, causing him to be 'off' in terms of normal drinking or whatnot. I'm sure he's drinking, though, when you're not looking. Can always check his gums to make sure they're nice and pink.

| There is plenty of natural moisture in the food to keep the dog hydrated. My dogs barely drink water. My vet told me he'd be very concerned if I told him they drank a lot of water on a raw diet |

| gums should be pink and moist, I keep pedialyte in the house, you never know when they might throw up or have the runs and it helps put back the minerals they have lost. you can always PM me any time if you have questions, I know one or two things about feeding raw |
