| Yorkie tricks Bailey has always been quick to learn. I believe this to be a Yorkie trait... of course So far we have taught him to: sit, lay down, stay, come, roll over, spin, dance, play dead and jump. For each of these tricks I have also used a hand motion, so that I don't even have to speak in order for him to do a particular trick. How about your Yorkie... what tricks have you taught him/her to perform? |

| The tricks that Huey knows are the ones he has trained ME to perform. I throw the toy and he brings it partway and will then only advance a few inches at a time to see exactly how far from me he can drop it and still get a treat. The other trick he knows is to get something that he isn't supposed to have like a coin or a plastic wrapper or hair tie and then flaunts it in front of me so I will give him a treat to give it up. He then goes to find another forbidden object and repeats the process. Cunning little brat...

| Zoey also "stays and waits" when I open a door to go outside. Then "comes" when I invite her out. Really comes in handy when your in a hurry and you don't want them running out the door. Be sure you use hand signal, hand flat and up and point for stay...... I also needed to distract her from calling me to her with her potty bell , lol, so I bought a baby toy that straps to a cars seat, and strapped it to the bottom of a bar stool in my kitchen. I LOVE it.... There are 3 toys on it that spin and one that has a button in the middle you have to push and it plays music ....Didn't take long for her to learn that! And it's soooo funny!, I am writing this on pad , will go to computer and send a few pics, if I can find this thread again. |

| ok ... they are all blurry cause she is really loves spinning them....then she turns around and looks at me as if to say..."Good enough??...Treat , treat??" Its amazing how smart they are....I started at Pet Smart classes when she was 10 weeks the basics and that really helped teach ME what to teach her. |

| more When loose leash walking in the yard she learns "drop it" and "leave it" with leaves she wants to eat and or EVERYTHING else she wants to taste( stones , nuts , twigs, bugs) with a tug , a command and a treat at first , now it's just the commands..she is just glad to be outdoors... Will "go get it" when I throw anything and bring it back.....outdoors she really likse an empty water bottle smashed so she can bite it, with a few rocks in it for weight to rattle and so it will toss better... It's different than indoor toys.... Try attaching an elastic band around a chair top or banister with a "grabby "toy on the end....let it hang just above their head ....Zoey goes crazy .....first thing she plays with in the morning and last thing at night... Any other ideas out there? She is always up for new stimulation... Arent they fun?!! |

| Gina has been through puppy class, and learned sit,and sit stay, down, bow, drop it , leave it. We are now in the advanced class, new ones ore park it and off, sit stay with a longer duration, heel stick targeting, today we started on wait, and park it using the heel stick as a pointer so she knows where we want her to go. Fetch was the very first trick she did, and she did that on her own, I threw a ball, she fetched it and brought it back to my hand all on her own. She's very smart and loves the training and attention, any time she starts to get bored/destructive, I just bring out the clicker and treats, and she goes though whatever routine I have her do. Cheers Quad

| Callie can pick up a trick in less then 15 minutes. Right now she know sit, stay, down, beg, roll over, jump through the hoop, spin, leave it, shake with both front paws, and high five with both front paws, go to bed, and then she knows a lots of commands to keep her out of trouble like leave it, no, don't go off the carpet and others. I think Yorkies are very smart! This is what Callie did for a talent show http://youtu.be/UpBHn3VT4aE

| I love trick training! Yorkies are sooo smart, and it's so much fun to teach them stuff and see that lightbulb moment go off. Jackson is one of the smartest dogs I've ever had, sometimes that can not be a good thing! LOL... but he's a lot of fun to work with. Here's an older montage of his tricks... I need to make a new one And a newer trick, backwards circles around my legs:
