| New to forum and need a little help! Hello, My name is Dean and I am new to the forum as well as a new and very proud owner of a 5 month old male Yorkie, "Jack. He is just under 3 pounds and don't believe he is going to get much bigger. I am having a dandruff or dander problem with him and he is itchy. I have read a lot of post here where a lot of you use oatmeal shampoo, which I am using as well as I switched his food from Purina to Royal Canin. Any input from any of you would be helpful. Thanks, Dean |

| welcome to yt!! how long since the switch?? you may need to give him time to flush the purina crap outta his system. I hope others chime in....with more to offer. I know they do allergy testing but i would start at the foods first. wishing you and jack the best and hope the food switch does the trick.

| I am a 1 1/2 weeks on the Royal Canin. I did a slow transition and he loves it. I got this shampoo at Pet Supermarket, it is for puppies and it is a oatmeal/coconut shampoo. I may need to give the food a little time to work. I have also read in here about fish oil supplements. |

| I would hold off on any other changes till you give him the time to flush the purina. im not technically sure how long that would take before adding supplements. just to isolate each new thing and be sure its not adding to his issue. jmo. maybe at least 30 days but maybe your vet could confirm that.
