| Yorkie body length and weight question My Yorkie Cricket will be 6 months old at the end of September. I Have a question about body length, I bought Cricket a cheerleader dress to wear on Sundays for football season it was a size small and my problem was that the skirt was short, it came to the middle of her back and I thought it looked funny so I took it back and exchanged it for a pink football jersey. It is just as cute I measured my dog from her neck to her tail and she measured 14 1/2 in.I'm still buying her size small shirts and those look fine. I guess my question is, is she too long? I know I sound crazy and I will love my dog either way. I guess i'm really just wondering. While I'm asking, I should go ahead and ask about weight. About a month ago she was at the vet for a recheck on her bile acids and she weighed in at 5 lbs 3 oz. I saw both of her parents, her mom was about 6 lbs and her dad was 7- 71/2 lbs. |

Hi, not to be rude at all but whether she is too long or not is irrelevant . There is nothing you can do about that You do not sound crazy, just a concerned mommy.. I think your little one is perfectly normal.. It is hard to say what the adult weight would be but if i had to guess I would say 8 or 9 lbs.. My Oscar was a little over 5 lbs at 5 months now at almost 2 years old he is 8 1/2 lbs... | |

YT 2000 Club Member | Most yorkies are long bodied. Clothes run differently according to brand or company. As far as weight, if she is healthy and happy with no food concerns.....she is doing fantastic!

| Did you measure from the base of her neck to the base of her tail, only the topline? I ask bc 2 of mine are 5#'s & their lengths are 8", so is my 6#.

| I started at her neck where her collar sits to the base where her tail begins. Is that how I'm supposed to do it? |

| You did it right, I re-read your post (sorry, I was speed reading) & realize that she's still growing. That's the beauty of Yorkies, they come in all sizes & colors.

| When buying clothes for Zadie ... she was about 5 pound full grown and sometimes dresses looked like she was a "girl of the night" her skirt was so far up her back and then others the exact same size was to long ... to bad they don't have fitting rooms for dogs :-)

| Just wanted to add that most Yorkies grow up & they start filling in. We have lots of talented seamstresses here on YT. They can make the perfect outfit for your girl. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ore-sites.html

| Well let me first say that the same happened to me when I got Mandie. There are so many vendors on here, facebook, and etsy that will custom make clothes, I almost never by off the rack. I can have a vendor here make a dress for around $20 give or take...worth it to me. Now, I would also question your measurement. That is pretty long. Mandie is long and she is about 12 inches. How tall (shoulder to floor) is your girl?

| Mine are both pretty square in shape. Maybe an inch longer than tall at most. That does seem long but then you didnt say how tall she is.

| My Huey is 1/2 silky, so he is definitely longer than tall. How tall is Cricket? Just curious, because I have the same problem with clothes not fitting properly on Huey. He is 8lbs and 12" long but only 8" tall at the shoulder. He lookes like he has little dwarf legs. (Makes his hair look longer, tho ) Huey is 4 1/2 years old. Doesn't make a bit of difference in my love, just makes fitting clothes a problem, so he mostly goes nekkid, which he prefers, aanyway.

| ZoE is long too. I have difficulty finding clothes that fit her well. If they fit her around the body, they are too short. If I buy for her length, they are always way too wide.
