| Are yorkies generally floppy dogs? I don't know how to say it except compare it to when you call a cat floppy, or is it just being a puppy? Draco is pretty clumsy but outside of that his body/legs isn't the least bit stiff. My last furrbaby did't like being held like a baby or on his back at all. Sure he had clumsy moments during playtime but he never let his body be all floppy like Draco. And he only liked to be carried on the hip and would wrap his paws around me like a small child. Draco falls asleep with half his body hanging off the couch, on his back, if he trips over one of his toys he roller over but not like he's trying to get back up, but as if he just gave up and is lets his body go limp. I guess I only ask this because I was looking for reviews of front carrier back packs that have cutouts for your pups legs. And one of the reviewers mentioned that her Chihuahua didn't like it much but it could be good for yorkies who have floppy legs that they wouldn't mind dangling.

| Mine are opposites. Laddy is what you call a floppy yorkie, can sleep anywhere in any position. Kyra stiffens up when being held.

| If you handle ,hold them often. Put them on there back pet them. they may not like it for awhile. Until they trust you then you can do anything. Once it becomes routine |

| Milo and Bella are sibblings from the same litter, yet they are completely different.Milo melts on your arms when you hold him, you can literally turn him over and blow rasberries on his tummy etc, but Bella stiffens right up and acts uncomfortable and awkward. She is ok to sit next to you and just chill, but she does not like being touched at all |

| Luma is my little ragdoll...I can do anything to her and she sits and lets me. I never have to worry about her jerking away when I trim her paws, ears, or near her eyes. She loves to be held on her back like a baby. Always has. So when we got Rosie and Rosie acted like we were murdering her by putting her on her back, I was shocked and kind of upset that she didn't trust me. I guess I forgot that I would have to build trust with her. Luma didn't mind it as a puppy. Rosie has slowly gotten used to us and she will flip over for belly rubs but is cautious about it and doesn't really like to be picked up or flipped over. I think part of it is trust and part of it is just built into their personality. ETA: Luma and Rosie are full siblings from different litters. They are sisters but they have very distinct and different personalities!

| I never thought of Joel being floppy until I held my brothers JRT, he gets so stiff and awkward when you hold him lol. It made me appreciate holding Joel more |

| Holly loves laying on her back playing games and for belly/chest rubs ... still being a puppy it quickly turns into to a "can I bite your hand" game ... she often sleeps on her back as well ... some dogs are comfortable with being placed on there back and handled by us in all kinds of ways and some aren't ...

| I take it you are not concerned about his heath? It does sound kind of unusual. He trips over his toys? Is he energetic and playful like a puppy should be? Do his muscles seem developed as they should be? |

| Why wouldn't I be concerned with his health? But no there's nothing that points to health concerns. I guess I was more questioning the personality. Like it's just that he doesn't make the effort to stay uprigh tlol , and seems more floppy like a cats I've met than stiff like my last pooch. If my previous pup managed to trip he'd recover from quick enough to where you could barely see it. When Draco does it he's sloppy and like he decided he'd rather just continue playing with his toy on his back, or lay and enjoy the view for a few seconds. And how he falls a sleep and whatever position, like kittens I've fostered in the past, instead of like my other dog who only had 2. I was just wondering if yorkies know for being kinda floppy and easier to accepting to be handled in various ways.

I have one of those front carrier you've mentioned and have tried using it few times but do not anymore. Zoey just seemed so uncomfortable and felt like her back was hunched the whole time. One of the first thoughts were "that can't be good for her back...". After that, I got a doggie backpack which she seems happy with and gives her better support. | |
