Yorkie Talker | Pee pad training My 7 month old little girl is pee pad trained. She will also go outside. I'm finding that when I go to a friends house with her I need to take the pee pad with me or I can't trust her. She must be a little confused because she doesn't let me know when she has to go she just goes to the pad. I live in Michigan where we can get lots of snow. I thought pee pad training was a good idea for numerous reasons. But obviously it has it's drawbacks. I've heard Yorkies are notorious for peeing inside. I thought if I gave her the option of the pee pad, she wouldn't go on the carpet. Does anyone else have this issue with visiting friends and having to bring a pad? Or training tips for friends houses where there are no pads. I want to be able to take her with me without a pad and not have to take her out 2x an hour to make sure she doesn't just pee anywhere. |

| Does your little girl now a command to go potty? My Sophie Kate is pad and outdoor trained both (it was a lot of work to get both). The key for me was to teach her a command to go potty, when we go somewhere other than our home I always have a rule that she must go potty before we go inside. Also is your little girl spayed yet? The reason I asked is my female would mark before I had her spayed. Bladder control came along with age for my Sophie Kate, she is 5 now but I will tell you that first year with her was hard.

I don't know what it is with these dogs, they just, like all of a sudden, decide, hmmm I am going to NOT pee on the pee pad that I pee on every day at home. The breeder I got her from says to take away her privileges when she does stuff like that (she also went through a phase where she peed on my rugs for 2 weeks AFTER being pee pad trained for a year). I ended up keeping her in the kitchen for 2 weeks and that worked like a charm. No more peeing on the rugs. She wanted her privileges of being in the rest of the house back, so she stopped looking at me, squatting and peeing wherever she wanted. The breeder also told me that Yorkies think the whole world is their toilet. ahahahahahah SO TRUE!! Anyway, I don't have an answer for you but just to say, keep bringing the pee pad wherever you go. I am: have pee pad will travel!!!:

| My boys are pad and outdoor trained. They know their pad is in their house, but not other houses or public places. But they usually stay right at my side when we visit other houses, so that might be a big part of it. The only suggestions I can think of are limiting freedom and supervising very closely when visiting. Also teaching keywords as SophieKatesMom suggested and making sure she potties before entering the house.

If I am "going potty" she will as well. I don't know what it is with her, but the minute she sees me on the bowl, she will run to her pee pad and go. I say go potty Beanie, go poops and she just goes and does it. Too funny, we are on the same freakin poo schedule. ahahahahahahahhahaha I just love my dog!

Yorkie Talker | Yes, my Lucy knows what to do when I saw "go pee" or go "poo". She also goes potty on the pad when I sit on the bowl.. Too funny! She is not spayed yet. Thanks for the encouraging information. She really is doing very well on the pads so far. I guess we are on the right path. Just going to take some more time and maturity I guess. |

| Good Luck with this process.! I think that the command will be very beneficial in this situation.

| Kewpie is 5 months, and I have the same issue. She still has accidents at home. so bringing a peepad does not always solve our problem. She will not go outside yet. Luckily my family love her like I do, so they are accepting of all of this. |
