| I was fooled with a snorkie rather than a Yorkie :( HELP!! About 2 months ago i purchased a "Yorkie", We wanted a girl to serve as companion to my Yorkie boy YOYO. She got home, she was so tiny! and totally could have fooled anyone. However now that she is almost 4 months old... Her hair is growing slow, she is gaining too much weight and is getting really big... she does not look like a Yorkie anymore. I feel betrayed by this individual. She is lovely me and my partner love her and spoil her as much as my YoYo. I need help thou, I am having difficulties potty training her...When YoYo was a pup he learned very quickly but she is messy, and her attitude is different from Yorkies, I am having a hard time understanding her.. Seems like she chose my partner as her master also. Please help me understand this behavior if someone knows about shorkies, snorkies, |

YT 1000 Club Member | Do you mind posting a pic of her??? Unfortunately(or fortunately for me)not all yorkies look the same even those within the same litter can look different from each other. In any case if you paid for a yorkie that is what you should have gotten from this breeder not a mix(if she truly is one). If you would like to pursue getting your money back I would get a DNA test to verify your pups heritage and confront her breeder with the paperwork(did you have a contract?) and go from there. Not all Yorkies act the "same"... just as humans we are the same species but have differing individual personalities. Potty training as a whole is difficult within any breed some pups catch on faster than others, was the breeder you purchased her from using potty pads/taking her outside? I've heard females tend to attach themselves to the male of the home(this is generally speaking) and males are more attached to the female of the home. If you would like her to be more attached to you I recommend you being solely responsible for feeding, playing, treats, bathing, etc(if you aren't already). This may help but puppies are known to choose their favorite person...I'll attach a pic of my pup Rasta whose almost 4 months to compare. I dont have a "snorkie" or know anyone who does so unfortunately I can't assist with that but I'm sure others will be on shortly and can! Welcome to YT!!! |

| If she is a mix, there would likely not be anyone who can tell you exactly what to expect. But, even within breeds, dogs can be different, including their 'trainability' and how quickly they pick it up. Also, since she is about 4 months old, please understand that she is still a baby and may not be able to control bodily functions yet anyway. Give her time, keep working with her as she matures, don't give up, and try not to get frustrated with her...give her lots of love and praise, and even treats when she does it right. Use 'key words' like 'go potty' as soon as you see her start to go so she starts to understand what you mean. She will eventually get the hang of it. You can set her up in a space to limit the messes she can make to a smaller, more managable area, etc. Lots of good techniques exist for training, and others may provide just the help you need. Good luck...and congratulations.

| Are you sure she isn't just a larger Yorkie? I have 2 girls and a boy & all of their personalities are very different. My older girl is messy too. In fact, my boy gets angry & growls at her when she's naughty...or doing something she isn't supposed to be doing, like shredding Kleenex. Sometimes when puppies are taken away from their mommies too early, they don't learn proper manners. Their mommy usually teaches them things like that. All of mine are different sizes & have different coat types. If you think you were fooled, you should have her DNA tested so that you're positive. Do you have a photo you can share?

| Garyf, you sound disappointed, but please don't give up on this girl. Regardless of her size and looks, she is yours now, and will give you a lifetime of unconditional love and companionship. My Yorkie was the hardest ever to potty train. I had pure Schnauzers before, and they were so much easier. Give her time, and be diligent in your methods. Even pure Yorkies vary in appearance, as you can see in photos of all of ours on YT. Here is a link to snorkies, so you can see how they vary also. Snorkie, Snorkies, Mini Schnauzer Yorkie Hybrid

| I know there's a certain personality you'd expect from a specific breed but honestly, not all fit the profile whether it be their personality or physical form. I think b/c your first yorkie already sort of set your standard on what a "yorkie should be" so perhaps you're feeling bit lost? I'm sorry you feel you got conned. I can sort of understand how you feel since I thought Magnus was not 100% yorkie. But was it just the physical appears that's leading you to think that she's a snorkie or do you have some solid proof? Like Teresiana suggested, perhaps you should get a DNA test on her if you're planning on some sort of suit against the breeder? Btw.. about the potty training... While it only took couple/few months for Magnus to get it, Zoey took over a year. Of the two, I know for sure Zoey's 100% yorkie. She's also MUCH more stubborn but than she's more obedient. | Thank you I do want to thank you all for your kind answers. As far as the relationship between me and the girl, I am actually the fem in the relationship (laugh*) and my partner is a lot more masculine, that is why she probably chose him. I am a bit disappointed, but I do love her and I will not return her as the breeder said that if I did return her, they\d only use her to mate and breed more I said, no. She will stay with me and the breeder will be returning the money as of September 15th, I am left with the benefit of the doubt, crossing fingers. I will try other methods on the training and take all of your advice thank you guys soooo much! I have shared some pictures of them, please tell me what you guys think.. it's Leah as a pup and Leah recently and YoYo |

Also, I don't know if Leah took your partner to be the alpha over you b/c she's more masculine. Again, using Zoey as my example. I'm the alpha for her despite my dad's presence. It's b/c I'm the one that does most of the activities with her like feeding, training, exercise, etc... Also, I don't give in like my parents do when they start the "puppy eyes" attack. I'm sure you will find a lot of good info on this site to help you with ideas for training. Btw.. both look just adorable! Do they get along? Who's the alpha between the two? | |

| LOL. I try to do everything with her play with her take her for a walk EVERYTHING lol she loves me I am sure, but when my partner is home I am invisible. They are very cute, they do get along, YoYo is a calmed little one so he keeps to himself, but since shes a pup still she does bother him A LOT. and he is the Alpha, she follows him around, especially with the "puppy eyes" he does it so does she.. -_- cant say no to that LOL! THANK YOU SO MUCH |

YT 1000 Club Member | Both your pups are cute! That's great the breeder is going to give you the $$$ back and let you keep her . I will say she doesn't look like any of the yorkie pups I've seen but I haven't seen every one out there lol. Either way she's a cutie and if you love her who cares if she's a mix?! |

She does cute things and she is getting into a lot of trouble she has destroyed very expensive furniture! :O I come from a hispanic background so grandmas have all these home remedies, she told me to put pepper and natural cactus aloe.. she stopped! -so it worked, i however have a lot of trouble potty training her. The laundry room is for them to do their business, my boy learned in 2 WEEKS i am not lying, and he is so well trained and adorable. But her she is just bad, LOL! very cute and spoiled but she just wont potty train I am trying trust me !! i am nice to her have gone thru the treats, imagine this: i even jump and clap wwhen she actually goes into the laundry room.. im running out of ideas and i do not want to use a cage PS The breeder said this "She had a schanuzer injection"-I dont know what that meant so I was terrified and I will press charges and report him Last edited by garyf; 08-30-2013 at 01:24 PM. |

| Both are totally adorable. All our little furkids are each unique in appearance and personality, and full of surprises. Enjoy them both, you are lucky to have such a cute lil family.
