| Gina's Life Vest As asked for, here are a few pictures of Gina in her life vest, just before her first swim. When we got to the dock this afternoon, Gina went straight to the edge and dove in face first. The vest did what it was supposed to do, she came up face first. Gina didn't seem to really mind the water too much, she did go back in a few times again. I will try to get some pics of her swimming with the vest on. I got this vest from PetSmart, and it is a great investment in the safety of my furbaby around water. Cheers Quad

| How did you get your dog to feel comfortable in the water?? I know a lot of dogs just like it, but I can see my dogs being scared. I am thinking about heading up to the lake next weekend, and I purchased a life vest for my oldest dog....but I've never had him in anything other than a sink. I was also thinking about purchasing a kiddie pool for them to play in. It would be nice to find ones they could get in and out of. I thought about trying to find stairs, but it seems like everything would be slippery. |

| Gina just went to the edge and jumped in, Megan our old Yorkie, wasn't a big fan of the water, but she wanted to be with me when I went swimming, she jumped off the steps about 4ft out and 3ft up in the air, then swam out to me. I've always had dogs that went in the water. My suggestion, is let them explore the water without making then get in and see how they react. As for the life vest, we put it on her a few times before we came to my mom's house, we also put it on once we got here and today about 15 minuets before we went down to the water. Good luck, and I hope they enjoy the water. Cheers Quad

| That's just too cute! And you're right about it being a great investment. I remember reading an article where a older couple ended up drowning because their dog jumped in and looked like he was drowning. One jumped in to save the dog but something happened and started drowning... Then the wife jumped in out of panic but turns out, she couldn't swim. NO ONE had a life vest on! Somehow, the dog survived. |
