New to Site - Need Help Hi, I just found this site today. I purchased a female back in December from a breeder in Texas (Yorkiepup.com - Jeff Dane). She came with a one year health guarantee so I though it would be safe to purchase from him. When I picked her up at the airport she was sick and has conggenital defect, but he will not cover because it is treatable. She has KCS (dry eye). While her condition is not life threatening, she will be on eye drops every day for the rest of her life. There is nothing I can legally do, but want to do anything I can to keep other's from having to go through this. Any suggestions?

| what you are doing is a good start - spread the word. We had another thread about a breeder who deals online and had been ripping people off. This forum shows up in search engines so if anyone happens to run his name through an engine, this post could show up. Welcome to Yorkie Talk, I'm sorry to hear that your little one is not as well as she should be More interesting reading for you: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=jeff+dane http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=yorkiepup

That's really too bad. I hesitate to buy anything off the net because of things like this. I would always want to see any animal i buy before I buy it. I am sorry for your trouble, and hope you can resolve this with the breeder. Tell her you are telling everyone you can about her and will contact authorities in her state. Pat

Jeff Dane is not what is considered a reptuable breeder, more like a small puppymill. His prices are ridculious for what he calls teacup yorkies, although there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie, anly smaler than usual and larger than usual, but they are all just yorkies. I know that people look and buy off the internet, but I don't understand why. You really need to see what you buy before you pay for it. I can see contacting a breeder over the internet, but you need to be able to visit them to see what kind of place your puppy is actually coming from. And see how it is raised. So many people are getting bad deals and once they have the pup and paid the money they are pretty well stuck. Who wants to give up a puppy after you have held it and gotten those wonderful little puppy kisses.

Ditto, mmyorkies! I have birds also, and looked on the net to buy because we don't have many breeders here. But, my good sense followed through and I finally found a couple of birds I love. Same with the Yorkie. Although the prices on the net --not to mention flying them in are astronomical! One just has to meet with the breeder and pick the puppy you want! Pat

Hello, When you picked up your puppy what condition was she in? Her eyes and any other problems she came with, her symptoms? Im so very sorry your puppy is sick. I breed yorkies and ask these questions so I understand your circumstances, improve my breeding program, and have an overall better understanding all the way around. Its not a good thing when someone recieves a puppy and are dissatisfied. Is your puppy extremely small?
