| Yuk Horrible, Discusting This morning Zach, our yorkie brought a dead rat into the house. I don't know how he managed to get past us with it but when I went into the bedroom there is was. I know yorkies were originally used to catching rats but gee I didn't know Zach kept up with the tradition. Well my friend freaked out totally. She's a city girl, I don't freak out so easily because I was brought up near a park and was used to creatures, although I could have done without his gift. Zach was so proud of himself though you had to laugh he was waiting for a reward. |

| LOL how nice of him to bring you a present! I can imagine him sitting there all proud, like "ok, where's my treat?!" Crazy what hunters these little guys are. I read about the rat thing, too and didn't really believe it until I saw Billi attacking and shaking her toys. They just seem like sweet puppies?!

| ROFL That's so sweet. He's offering you his catch! Did you give him a treat for job well done? And just think... Zack will be giving you many kisses after the rat's been in his mouth. hahaha (Thank goodness M/Z haven't had a chance to catch one, let alone bring one into the house...) |

| Blech! Minnie only brought in birds and squirrels; thankfully no stinking rats.

YT 1000 Club Member | Well, you just think he brought it in... What if it was IN the house, and he caught/found it ! I'd given him TWO treats if that happened here. Save that around here, there would have been at least two others sitting there trying to make me think they had some part in it. Yorkies are very intuitive

| Zach! I would have passed out. I had a cat when I was in grade school and he would hunt chipmunks in the backyard and try to bring them inside.

| Awesome!!! Wish mine had prey drive. Recently found a rat drowned in my toilet!! Lexie is worthless as a ratter. I was thinking of posting her on Dog Shaming!

| Maybe Zack and Charlie (Christinee's pup) can be friends? I believe Charlie was obsessed with catching mice. LOL |

| That's awesome .. and gross at the same time :-) natural instinct is something that cant be bread out of dogs (easily anyway) ... like herding dogs (Blue Healers, Kelpies, Border Collies etc) will often round up things .. my Father had a Kelpie that would herd the local neighborhood kids when a car was coming down the street .... I think that Yorkies behavior when playing with their food and treats is the hunting instinct as well ... some times I wish Holly would just eat her darn treat and not throw it around the room and do all the funky moves on it .... usually the Lab gets it as she "hides it" in plain sight :-P

YT 1000 Club Member | HA HA, I wouldn't have had a choice around here, it would have been in so many pieces, there'd be something for all my guys.
