| Halloween costumes scare my baby! We have a camp at the lake up north, since it's a seasonal camp, they do Halloween Trick or Treating for the kids in August and Christmas in Sept. This past weekend I was sitting in a chair with my boys on the ground at my feet on a leash. The kids would come up and take candy from the bowl I had. Well the kids that did not have masks on were fine to Fletch, but the ones that had masks .. oh boy... he went MENTAL. Barking right in their face and lunging at them! Scared some kids pretty badly. NO bites or anything. I was horrified though. ALL the parents were so good about it and I explained to the kids that he is scared of their mask and protecting his mommy. Once the kid took off their mask and pet him he was all happy and wagging and fine with them. I felt so bad for him and for the kids though!

| Awww, I would think that's normal. Those Halloween masks scare ME, too!

| Poor Fletch. It is interesting how our dogs discern the difference between a regular person and one in costume, not just masks. I walked the boys in a park that was preparing for a Halloween hayride and there were spooks and goblins everywhere. Max and Teddy knew something was wrong with these people.

| It IS really funny (not haha) that they seem to know something is off when the kids have masks on. There was this one little boy in particular. He was probably 6 or 7 years old. He was dressed as Batman, so not scary, but you could only see his eyes. His mom asked if they could pet the dogs. I said sure (not realizing what would happen), well Fletch jumped at this kid, from my arms, barking and snapping like a mad man! Poor kid jumped back and stared at him. I realized that it might be the mask so I said to the kid to lift his mask so Fletch could see his face, he did, and Fletch was back to his normal happy loving pet me self. The poor kid was so timid! I felt so bad. His mom was saying how the dog didn't recognize him as a person and he was scary to the dog with his mask, he was protecting his mommy, etc.. she was so nice about it! After that every kid who asked to pet the dogs, I asked them to lift their mask because he's afraid of them. They all did w/o a problem, so that was good!

| I'm hoping to skip Halloween this year. Masks or not, my two burns paw while barking like crazy when they hear the knock/door bell. I do notice they're very selective about who they like. Well... Magnus is. Zoey just doesn't like anyone that's not family. LOL |
