| Won't cuddle at all! Leo is a 4 year old, going to be 5 in November. When he was a puppy, he never really a cuddler, but he was always playing and let us pick him up. The past year, he's still so excited whenever we come home, but after those 15 minutes of excitement he's aloof and never really wants to come interact with us. He rarely plays, he never cuddles, he's never even just slept in someones lap. If anything, and this is extremely rare, he comes and snuggles up on someones leg for a maximum of 10 minutes and then leaves. He never really shows affection aside from when we get home. All he does all day is stare out the window! It's not like he doesn't get enough attention or exercise, he gets walks and we have a huge background and we let him go in and out all day! Is there any reason why he never wants to play and never wants to cuddle or is this just his personality? |

| Sounds a lot like it's personality... But.. what kind of games have you tried playing with him? How does he act when he's with other dogs? Is he food/toy driven at all? Both my furbutts want nothing but my attention any time I'm around. Magnus isn't much of a cuddler unless he's feeling REALLY lonely but Zoey's your classic definition of a lap dog. LOL I'm assuming he's in good health? Do you have a lot of squirrels or birds coming into your yard? Maybe that's what he's staring at? I know a neighbor's dog that's "aloof" around their owners. But when other dogs are around, he's very playful and gets so excited! |

| Sounds like personality to me. My pomeranian Ted was just like that. Although whenever I fostered kittens Ted suddenly became more affectionate and would come sleep and hangout in the bed with me and whatever kitty I fostered. He wasn't never too toy driven, and though he had some favortie treats he wasn't driven by them either. Ted would stare out the window, and when we'd be in the yard after about 15 min he'd just stare at the door to get back in the house, lol. He only really got excited for new people and just being at the dog park.

Oh and the dog park was the only place he seemed full speed. He'd do a few laps getting all the dogs riled up and chasing him. We never had any other dogs, and actually besides the dog park he didn't play enough or seemed that interested in any of my friends dogs all that much. He did play with the kittens a little bit when I fostered them, and liked to clean the kittens after they were done eating though. I really think open spaces and lots of dogs was his favorite.

| I think it is probably his personality. I do not have dogs that cuddle much or even play much. If you want some interaction, do you practice tricks with Ted? Mine love, love, love to do that. When Piccolo was a puppy I even did some clicker training and we really bonded doing this.
