| Question on cleaning eyes Hi there ... I'm so new to doing all the maintenance on a Yorkie .. Zadies mom used to do all the work on her .. I just held her and distracted her while the work was being done .... As Holly has a white and brown face she get the tears stains so I bought tear stain remover pads ... in trying to clean up the stains it seams the pads leave a lot of residue behind and because she's so little I keep getting the moisture over her eye lids I'm not sure if this is stinging her eyes or not .. she doesn't yelp or squeal but she rubs her face on the blanket like they do when you give them a bath ... would this be because she's trying to dry her face or its stinging her so she's trying to alleviate the stinging ? Also is this product really just for tear stains ? and using a face cleaning pad (plain) with warm water best for cleaning her eye goobers out ... then trying really hard just to wash the tear stains with the tear stain remover pads ok I know I've kind of repeated myself there a lot .. I've gotta get this maintenance thing sorted out soon .. its definitely not my forte cheers

| Hi! What is the name of the product? Nothing should go in the eyes, so I would be very careful. My boys will rub their faces if I use anything with a scent.

| The brand is 21s Century I got them from Pet Smart, they do have a fragrant smell to them ... my next visit to the supermarket I'm picking up some plain pads with no sent or moisturizer and use water to be safe ... thanks for the reply ... much appreciated :-)

| Plain pads or cotton balls wet with warm water (not too hot) are great. You can also use a little flea comb with teeth spaced closely together to comb the yuckies from the corner of the eye. Then pat dry with a dry pad. Sometimes food or water type can cause excessive staining. What kind of food does she eat? You can also try filtered or bottled water. Environmental allergies or clogged tear ducts can also cause staining.

| I use a cotton ball with warm water along with a small comb. I clean eyes daily here - mostly in the morning and in the evening so that they are always clean and the gunk doesn't have a chance to build up.

| I use saline solution in my boys eyes, the tearing will pretty much stop once they are done teething. Also make sure you wash their face everyday. This is what many of the maltese owners do. You can also use angel eyes |

I thought the saline would be better than tap water. He gets tap water in his eyes when he has a bath, so I went back to regular water. Problem solved.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Eye maintenance Thanks for the tip - I've used pet store eye wipes, which work- but this sounds simpler |

| Have you tried mineral oil? I use that and if I ever ran out, olive oil. It will soften and loosen the gook for removal. Cotton balls are great and gentle. |

| Kyra is 2 years old and still gets the eye gook. I soften with water and use a flea comb on her every day. I also found if I keep the hair close to the eyes shaved close it helps.

| Umm, this may be gross, but I just pick them out with my finger. They're not a lot. Sometimes it's just one little hard eye booger (not gooey or anything). He doesn't have tear stains or runny problems. Sooo no wipes or wash clothes. Just pick it out with my finger and he usually eats it hahah

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I do the same thing. I use a little comb everyday. I usually get it before it dries.

| A breeder told me to use Chamomile tea on a pad and the flea comb to comb it out. Works great for me |

| I have recently started using tea on a pad, which is what my vet recommended, and it works well on making the stickiness come out. I brush it with a flea comb afterwards.
