| Very sad losses. Great reminder to have a properly fitted harness, and the right style for your dog. Also check leashes and hooks regularly and make sure they are secured to the harness.

| My Jilly could do the same thing until I got her a harness that properly fit her body and took pains to properly place it on her, never latching it too loosely, which with a wiggly dog can be easy to do. Kristin is soooooo right. The harness just must fit and be properly placed, adjusted and fastened on the dog for them to be safe. I've seen several tiny and small dogs in ill-fitting or improperly adjusted harnesses! Disasters waiting to happen!

| How sad! I know how it is, Henri slips out of his harness too at times. He is the Houdini of the dog world, I have tried five different harness styles and he always manages to get out no matter how tight I make it. I am doing heavy research to find him one that he won't be able to get out of or I might just design one myself.

| I think Kristin hit the nail on the head with this comment. I've seen so many pets slip out of a too big harness.

| Guess I just got lucky with mine, as Cookie tried to fight it like hell when I first got it, but she could never get out of the thing. Now she likes wearing it though.

| This can happen with collars too growing up we had a large dog that could slip out of and break any collar. I like the buddy belt harness because it is sooo easy to adjust to make tighter or looser you don't have to fumble around with the plastic slide things. Collars are such a big no no for yorkies you just have to try and find the right harness that fits properly. It would be nice to see maybe pet stores and animal places do harness fittings where they help you adjust your harness to the right fit and tell you how to do the right fit.

| ^^Taylor, very good point about collars. I have known dogs to slip out of those too when they were not fitted correctly, or were not the right kind for the dog.

| Luckily mine loves her harness so she never tries to get out of it but I still always check to make sure its not loose!
