| Bluish/Turquoise Mark on Belly Area.... I adopted JuneBug from a resuce back in the middle of June. He was neutered on or around April 15th. He still had that bluish/turquoise mark when I adopted him in June. It went away after a while and now it has returned. I heard that some vets mark the belly area this way to show the dog has been fixed, but ,it is odd because it went away and is now back again. It doesnt bother him and is not sore to the touch. No changes in eating habits or activity level. He is still happy as can be. I tried to take a pic to post but he is squirmy and will not let me...lol! Any ideas?

| I think the members can give you more input if they can see a picture. But just from your description, it doesn't sound serious. Is the mark getting bigger? When it re-appeared, did it seem any different then the first time? If you're ever feeling uncomfortable regarding her health, it's just best to get it checked out by the vet. Peace of mind... |

| Interesting.... The dog I helped adopt from the humane society got neutered tuesday. He now has an x with a circle around it on his back inner thigh. They very well could be tattooing the dogs to mark that they've been fixed. It definitely looked like a tattoo. Speaking of neutering...is it normal for them to have a lot of hanging skin back there where their testicles used to be?? I didn't think they'd neutered him at first and I don't remember ever seeing saggy skin afterwards. Will that shrink up?? |

| Could it be a bruise?

| My Lab was the first dog I had neutered. All of my other pets were fixed before they came home with me. He's 100 lbs. Talk about saggy skin!!! Yeah, it shrinks up. Thank goodness. It freaked me out.

| The rescue where I volunteer tattoos the animals when they are spayed or neutered, a little green line. The boys it's very useful because they don't always appear to be neutered right away.

| It might be a tattoo from being spayed/ neutered. Some shelters mark the pups so they know they have been spayed in case they are in a shelter. Don't need an unnecessary operation. |

| It could certainly be a spay tattoo. Both Brody and Mia were altered by their previous owners, but Mia has a small turquoise 'tattoo' from being spayed, a much better solution than opening her up twice because no one knows. Brody was 'trimmed' up flush with his body with left nothing to sag...very 'neat and tidy' and no mistake that he has been neutered.

| My guess is that it's the spay tattoo. You should definitely post a picture.

| The clinic vet got a hold of me yesterday finally. She said that it is the tattoo but she never heard of it fading in and out. She left it up to me if I wanted to bring him in as to ease my mind. I do not think that is necessary because it is visible. As soon as I see any changes "then" I will take him in. I have been trying to get a pic but like I said, he is a squirmy little guy.
