| Do you use a collar just because? We live in a very rural area and we live in the country so there is no need to have a collar on Piper for ID purposes. Do any of you put collars on your babies just because they are cute!?! I'm trying to decide if I want to buy her a new collar. She has a harness for walking but nothing for when she is home. |

| My closest neighbors are a mile away and we have too many wire fences and sagebrush around that I would never let her out of the house unsupervised with a collar on. We also have lots of coyotes and hawks around. I'm talking about a collar just to wear in the house and when she's in her sling. Would you still put ID on her? I've always had great big dogs so this little dog thing is completely new for me. Sorry, am I being stupid!?! |

| Of course you're not being stupid! This forum is for any and all questions There are a lot of people who put collars on their dogs for looks, I mean come on there are some freaking cute collars out there. It is all up to personal preference. If you get her a collar I would suggest trying to find a small thin one similar to kitty collars, so it won't be to hard on her neck.

| You're not being stupid at all. When Lexi was a few months old I bought her a collar and a pretty sparkly tag. I was concerned about the tag being too heavy for her neck so I asked the vet. She looked at and said 'No, it'll be fine'. That wasn't good enough so I actually had to put it in her hand so she could feel the weight. She was so patient, but I can only imagine what she was thinking. I was afraid the weight would cause back or neck problems. The tag was the tiny one, about half the size of a rabies tag! So, yes, she wears a collar with her ID info on it. She's never outside alone so I don't worry about it getting hung on something.

| I like for mine to wear collars at all times except for sleeping. I keep bells on them so if I hear a bell off in the distance I know someone is up to something. |

Everytime she has one on she bites at it and it gets stuck between her teeth and it hurts her so it makes me nervous

| I bought a collar for Holly last week and put it on and then took it off after a few hours and then on again ... and then off again ..... She's still so little and she's an absolute fireball running, jumping, flipping, spinning everywhere ... so for now I'm worried about her getting caught up on something .. I have a harness for walking ... when she's a little older I'll have a collar for ID tags and then the harness for walks ... I'll be putting the collar I have on her every now and then while I'm able to watch her and take it off when I cant to get her used to having one on :-)

| Yes, he always wears a collar except during baths. We use a cat breakaway collar with a slide-on tag. So no issues with the collar getting caught on something and the tag is very light. If it is getting stuck between her teeth, it may be too loose on her. |
