| Chewing on grass and dried oak leaves Will it hurt my Brody if he chews on the grass and leaves? I don't actually see him eat it, but he chews on it and then drops it. And the area he plays in it is only grass and oak tree leaves. No other plants. I tell him to drop it, but of course he doesn't. I was just wondering. Thanks for any information. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Generally speaking, this activity is not considered dangerous to our little ones. Dogs eat Grass for several legitimate reasons...nutrition, roughage and as a catalyst to cause regurgitation when necessary. Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Oak leaves and acorns can be toxic if eaten in large quantities. So can water that has had oak leaves soaking in it. You'll also want to make sure the grass isn't being treated with chemicals and pesticides. If he's chewing on but not eating them, he should be ok. But if he does develop symptoms, make sure you let your vet know. | Dried oak leaves and other garden debris can harbor all kinds of fungi and bacteria. My cat thinks oak leaves are a delicacy and eats any that are accidentally brought inside, then pukes them up with 3 minutes.

| Good info about oak leaves. My boys chew on grass and I have had to floss a piece of it out of Teddy's teeth twice.

| Toby loves eating leaves. He's not too bad with grass--he just tries to get it out of his way(digging with his snout) so he can eat the bugs underneath the grass.
