| howled the whole time :( Dh and I drove to Missouri yesterday for a legal issue he had to attend to here today, so when we went to the meeting, we left Huey with my MIL. I had thought of everything...he had on his "band of shame"(belly band) to prevent any accidents while we were gone (less than 2 hours). She had treats to give him & we thought everything would be just hunky-dory while we were gone since Huey would probably just jump up in her chair with her and be a good boy until we got back. Wrong. Apparently he ran from door to door and howled like a wolf almost the entire time we were gone. She said she kept thinking he would settle, but then he would start all over again. This dog has never experienced seperation anxiety at home (as far as we know). He always just climbs on his fav chair or gets in the bed until we are back. I guess it was being in a strange location that did it. My worry is this doesn't bode well if we ever have to leave him in an emergency situation. I have a coworker who also has a yorkie who is my 'backup plan" if I ever need her. I would hate to take him to her and have him act like this. I don't necessarily want to try and train him or condition him to be left somewhere, as that would mean leaving him somewhere. I guess I will just hope we never have to and if we do, warn her of how he might act. Maybe since she has a yorkie, he would be ok. Has anyone had this problem? This is not a scardy-dog. He doesn't care about storms or loud noises and he never meets a stranger...he just loves people. He had his toys & his blanket and our stuff was still in the bedroom-we had not yet packed back up to leave. Oh well. We are on our way back home & I'm gonna stop typing and watch this crop duster that keeps buzzing the highway.. Gotta love farm country!

| Hi, I don't have any ideas for you, but wanted to let you know you are not alone. My yorkie is fine at home when I leave her to go to work or anywhere else. But, when I leave her with my sister or anybody else, she whines the whole time I am away. Needless to say no one wants to keep her when I need them too. |

| Thank you, Jilleen. Huey was apparently traumatized by today's being left, because now that we are on the way home, he won't even ride in his snoozer behind the driver's seat. He keeps climbing out and laying on his blanket in the middle of the back seat, which is as close as he can get to me without me releasing his tether to the seat. Sigh...poor baby. I guess I'll just have to hold him on my lap for a while, which is something I hate to do in the car since it is so unsafe, but I'm gonna wait until we are back on interstate instead of these back-road highways. OBTW, I am originally from your neck 'o the woods. I lived my first 30 years in Columbus...
