Yorkie Yakker | Do you ever worry about... Do you ever worry about hawks or owls scooping up your little ones? Maybe I am just paranoid. I live in the city so it is not as common see but I know it could happen with dogs as small as ours. Opinions?

| yes, that does worry me too. Copper hops around our yard like a small bunny. We have some hawks here, and I occasionally hear an owl in the morning. I just keep watch.

YT 1000 Club Member | Most definitely! I've seen huge vultures while walking Roxie and they are not very afraid of people from what I can tell. I've seen one circling a cat before on post on the way to our vet on my way back home it was in the middle of the road eating something... |

| Even tho we're in suburbia, we're close enough to the mountains that we have hawks, owls, vultures, falcons, eagles, etc... I see them flying over my neighborhood daily and have heard of little dogs disappearing in my area, usually due to the birds. Totally freaks me out, but I'm also kind of a helicopter mom. I can't let Billi go far unattended anyway, she's just too small and too brave. I'll let her roam the backyard for a little while during the day when I can watch her. When she learns to come when I call her, I'd let her stay out more. Maybe!

| Nope because I am always with her, she is on a leash, and we gaven't seen anything scary around here. If I let her out alone or in a huge fenced yard a hundred feet away from me, then yes, I would he worried.

| Yes when the boys are off leash. It's not just scooping up that you have to worry about. Hawks and owls will maim and kill without carrying a pet away. Our neighbor's 9+ pound Yorkie was attacked by a hawk and was lucky to survive. He had to have major surgery to his torso.

YT 1000 Club Member | I worry about it all the time ! The last time it happened, my guys were totally covered in blood. Had feathers and Hawk parts all over the yard. The yard cleanup, baths, I hope they never have the chance to do that again !

| Yes this is a major concern for me. I live in an area where there is a large colony of either buzzards or vultures. I don't know what they are but their wingspan is about as wide as my windshield. I walk with a golf club and they have been known to swoop lower when Kimbo is out. He stays right next to me on his lead. They're beautiful birds and I would never want to hurt one BUT if you see me on CNN one day for hitting a bird with a golf club, it's because he came after my baby. Mama means business.

| Yes, I worry about it all the time. We have eagles, hawks and buzzads where I am and they love to glide all around the woods and tree lines. Now it's been confirmed by siting in my neighborhood, 2 adult foxes and babies too. Ugh!

| We live in the country, so my concern is very real! I trained my baby to use potty pads, she never goes out without me and a leash. Better safe than sorry. |

YT 500 Club Member | Yes I do woody. I have a coopers hawk nesting in my next door neighbors tree. She comes back every year. I've seen her swoop down on my baby a few times. Very scary!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yes, I do. We have hawks and owls here and they could scoop up any of our 3 easily. We don't let them outside without us in the backyard. In the front yard, they can be out there more safely bc it's less wide-open bc of the foliage.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | We have owls, hawks, eagles and turkey vultures around here. Yes I worry! I don't let the dogs outside without being on a leash, but it still has me on edge when we go for walks.
