| I need major help Hey guys I need some major advice. I took zoey to the vet today and the vet was checking out her soft spot that I knew about. He couldn't believe how big it is its an inch long he said max it's supposed to be 1/16 of an inch. She had grade 1 loose knee caps. And also her vulva is in a bit which makes her more prone to UTIs. I spoke to lora my breeder to let her know all this all she offered me was a full refund. In regard to the soft spot he said if it was 1/16th of an inch it would be ok...he was uneasy about it being that big...he said it could be correlate with hydrocephalus. I dont know what to do... |

| Honestly, from what you've told us about your breeder, I would cut my losses and get the refund and get a puppy from a reputable breeder. Most of the time breeders will tell you to give them back the puppy, knowing full well you won't bc you are already attached. Check out your states puppy lemon laws. Some states you can get the money back from the vet bills up to the full purchase price of the puppy. And you get to keep the puppy. If you give the dog back, usually they get put down. You can also take her to small claims court. This is yet another reason to only support reputable breeders. A reputable breeder would have known about such a large soft spot in her skull and not sold her! Or placed her for free in a pre approved home.

Either way, this is a sad way to learn about the importance of buying from a reputable breeder than knows his/her lines and what they are breeding.

| Obviously, your breeder did not go over any of her well baby checks with you or she would have been aware of these issues and hopefully, would have discussed them with you BEFORE you took that baby and got attached. A soft spot that is an inch long is concerning.....your vet is telling you the truth.....concerning for possible hydrocephalus development.... How old is Zoey? I have no idea what is going on with her vulva....What to do????......if you are financially able to treat all the worse case scenerios presented by issues she already has, and if you are hopelessly in love wih her, keep her and set yourself up for the future with this baby. Is the breeder going to take her back if she gives you a refund? That baby is possibly going to be a major expense to her, medically.....she will either consider letting you keep her and refund your money....or she will have her put down, or she will keep her and take care of her medical issues herself as they develop. Young puppies can have loose joints....they can tighten up with age if you do not allow her to jump from furniture! You will have to watch her head and keep her from injury via that soft spot....she may or may not ever develop hydrocephalus....it is a crap shoot. The vulva issue I can not say anything about because I have no idea what is happening there...if you keep her clean, keep the hair away from her lady parts, I would not be so concerned about UTIs.....it would seem to me UTIs would be a concern if she is not able to empty her bladder completely and pooling urine grows bacteria in her bladder, setting up the UTI.... This baby could be a lot of work, and/or a lot of money, or she could live a long life free of all these possibilities! You have to decide what YOU are up to doing! |

| Shes 18 weeks she was very rude to me saying I was always calling her with my fake worries she said there is nothing wrong with the puppy and I was annoying her. She already offered me a full refund only if I return the zoey. When I told her the vet said there level one...now the issue of the soft spot came up ( I already knew but she told me it was half a pea size not an inch long!) I accept loose petallas but hydrocephalus is scary to me. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Hydrocephalus is scary. I'm sorry that your heart is being torn apart by an unethical breeder. No one can tell you what to do at this point. You have to let your heart decide.

| Can you take her in to another vet for a 2nd opinion? I'm not saying your current vet is bad or anything of the sort. Just thought it might be a good idea to have a 2nd set of eyes to exam her.... I'm really sorry for both you and Zoey. You must feel so torn..... |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Not to add to your list of things to worry about, but you now have 2 mid-line defects (head and vulva) that you know about in this baby. You will need to be on the lookout for a 3rd (cardiac, liver). Because of the way an embryo develops (from the center out), she is at higher risk for having more problems. Again, I am sorry you are going through this.

| I agree, it's worth a visit to another vet to evaluate the soft spot. I wouldn't worry to much about the knees, but of course get that checked as well. |

If you return her she WILL put her down esp now that OP said she was so rude to her. She is banking on OP NOT returning the pup. She is bluffing! Sue her and keep the pup as well, but know that you may be in for a lifetime of heartache!

| I went to 3 vets one said it was big but may close up she was 11 weeks at the time second a couple weeks ago said it most likely will close however I felt super uncomfortable with him. ..this vet is the only one that gave me straight answers...in terms of liver n other things I should check it but now that u guys mention it when i hold her or pick her up she makes struggling breathing noises? I thought its bec shes so tiny. The dr n everyone thought she was 8 weeks old he was shocked saying shes the smallest dog they have in the office ( I mean some people here have tinier dogs so I didn't think she was that tiny...compared to safari that's crazy! |
