| Please help...potty issues My puppy, Willie, is 7 months old. We are having a very hard time training him. We take him out 4-6 times per day, and he pee pees. He poops on the pad we keep in his pen. When he has to go outside he walks to the door and looks out. The problem is that we don't know if we don't see him at the door. If we don't acknowledge him, he pee pees on the floor either near the door or next to his pee pee pad 70% of the time. The other times he goes on the pad. He seems to understand where he is supposed to go because when he goes on the floor, he runs behind the couch and watches us clean it. We are trying very hard to train him, but it is so difficult. Does anyone have any ideas on how to help? Also, does anybody know about how long it should take to train him? Thank you

| Your little guy sounds similar to my Zoey. It took me about a year to train her. She still has "accidents" like Willie but I know why. She does it to show us that she's mad. For example, if we're gone too long (in her opinion), she'll pee on the mat that's in front of the kitchen sink. She KNOWS what she did is wrong and will hide behind/under the couch when she sees us discover it. Yorkies can be very stubborn but not impossible. Just takes longer/more patience and understanding. I'm sorry I couldn't offer more info but I'm sure someone here can! Lots of great people with vast knowledge on yorkies! Good luck to you. |

| Our six month old came to me partially house broke. It's been 4 weeks and I am struggling too. LOL I'm glad I already knew that the little stinkers are stubburn. I'm sure we will get thru this, but I really wanted to be thru it last week. LOL Good luck and lots of patience. I also try to remember to take a treat out with us, so when he potty's outside I can reward him right then. |
