| What do you wish you'd named your dog? Were they almost named something else? Jackson was Jackson from the start. I saw his picture a week before I went to pick him up, and I remember staring at it, and trying out other names.... but Jackson just stuck. I couldn't get it out of my head, and to me, he just LOOKED like a Jackson. The name suggestion came from my mom because we had just watched Walk the Line about Johnny Cash and loved his song 'Jackson'. But I honestly think Jackson was named Mason in another life. I've had 3 people that have been around him often that accidentally call him Mason, ALL the time. lol. My dad has an employee that works out of our house and she's over every day and has often times mistakenly called him Mason. She's like WHY do I do that?! And then the other day one of my friends who I see often as well did the same thing (and the two don't know each other, or the fact that they both have called him Mason lol). then someone at the dog park did it once. And honestly, I think he does kind of look like a Mason. But I couldn't really picture him being anything else but Jackson. So yeah if I could name him anything else, I think I'd have to go with Mason, LOL. Plus it comes out easier for some reason than Jackson. My one complaint about his name is that sometimes it just doesn't 'flow' off the tongue easily. 'Jackson' seems too long, so I often just call him Jax in real life. Also, it's becoming so popular! My sister has 2 Jackson's in her tiny pre-k class! Crazy... when I chose it, I guess maybe it was just picking off because I didn't think it was a popular first name at the time.

| I think the name Jackson suits him well. Especially when you call him Action Jackson. I picture a cartoon super hero dog when I hear his name. Well, Anna was original named Lana and we got her from a rescue/shelter. I have an acquaintance named Lana and for personal reasons could not possibly imagine saying that name forever so we dropped the L and named her Anna. If I had a choice she would have been named Betty. We actually call her Tubba Wubba most of the time because she's chubby and waddles. Barney should really be named Chester because he looks like Chester cheetah. My son named him Barney off of a character from How I Met Your Mother. I don't love the name, but I adore the dog. On vacation, he made lots of young friends because they knew another Barney (the dinosaur). They would ooh and ahhh when they heard his name.

| It took us a few days to settle on Mandie so that is her name for sure. However, we got her from another couple who's work schedule had changed and they didn't have the time she needed. When we got her, her name was Sophie. I liked it, but hubby thought it was too ritzy for us country folk. lol

| I think Jackson, Jax are perfect. Love Barney too. Max was going to be Winston, Winnie. Dad looked at the puppy picture and said the name didn't fit. He chose Max, and I agreed if it could be Maximus for Russel Crowe's character in Gladiator. Our Italian neighbor called him Maximo and it stuck. We call him Maxman mostly. Whenever Max is exhibiting his intensity, I pick him up and cradle him like a baby, and tell him we should have called him Winnie so that he would be mellow.

| I too think Jackson looks like....Jackson! I can't imagine him being anything else..... Harry was almost 'Alfie', but we have a tv programme over here with Alfie Moon in it - and Andy wasn't happy with that.... So Harry became Harry, named after Andy's favourite football team's manager - Harry Redknapp. Unfortunately, the manager has now changed - it's now Andre Villas-Boas aaargh!!! So now occasionally you can hear Andy calling in the park...."Andre, Andre, come here Andre".....and the thing is - he does!!!! Sally + Harry/Andre xx Last edited by Harrysmum; 07-29-2013 at 07:02 AM. |

| Draco was close to being called Davey, Bowie, Ziggy, Aladdin, Jareth... notice a pattern? haha But I think being named after one of my characters from Harry Potter works for him.

| Couver's name was Joe Bob or something like that when I got him... lol. The people I got him from lived in the sticks and I think everyone has two names out there I was trying to come up with a name and my friends were over. We were sitting there and my friend noticed our painting of the skyline of Vancouver, Canada (dh's home). He said "How about Couver, short for Vancouver?" and I loved it. I love that no other dogs have the same name as him and it is easy to pronounce. With Khloe, I did the opposite... I kind of regret choosing such a common name, but I sometimes wish I had spelled it Chloe so Couv and Khloe would have the same starting letter. I tried thinking of more city names for her, but couldn't come up with anything feminine enough that had meaning to us. I chose Khloe because her mom's name was Kelly and she had a really hard time giving Khloe up, so I thought it would be nice to give Khloe the K from her momma

| For Chibi it was between Chibi and Yoshi from the start, Chibi suits him so well and is original and cute, I wouldn't change a thing. Molli was nameless for THREE days, she was this close to being named Pajama pants, I thought it was funny and super unique and actually really fits her, could have called her 'pj' for short. Molly is such a common name sometimes I wish I would have done something out of the box but it just fits her so well. Maybe next dog will be PJ

| Katie was three years old when she joined our family. I never even thought of another name because so much for her was changing for her already. Her name was Kate, so Katie is close enough We often call her Kate, but mostly she is Katie to us. Once we had her after waiting a few months for her, we realized that our breeder mostly called her Katya, since she is Latvian. So really Katie has a name very different from what she was called mostly.

| Sammy was named by my sons. I wanted to name him Toby. Kids didn't like it. My younger son wanted to name him Simba (Lion King). The boys settled on Sammy, after Sammy Sosa who played for the Cubs. We are Yankees fans. Makes no sense to me! Anyway, thats how our Sam got his name. |
