| What Are Your Dog's Fears? What are your dog's fears? What sends him or her shaking, running, hiding? I thought it might be interesting to compare our dogs' fears and see if there are any common denominators among toy terriers.

| Max does not like sewer drains. We have to walk 20 feet out of the way to avoid them. He will sit and not move if we are too close. Neither of my boys like when I talk seriously with my father, and they definitely don't like when we argue. They run to their beds. Teddy does not like thunderstorms.

| Other dogs! Well, I should say other strange dogs, cos if we're out and we meet up with another dog she knows, she gets so excited & wants to play. She definitely distinguishes her doggie friends from other dogs.

| Tibbe dislikes quirky noises such as certain squeaks, doorbells or high-tone sounds on TV soundtracks and will leave the room if I am having to rather loudly pronounce number or yes or no responses to an Automated Response Unit on the phone.

| LOL, my boys come to my rescue when I am doing battle with automated systems on the phone. They bark to help me. Then the system inevitably says, "Sorry, we did not understand your response."

YT 2000 Club Member | The vets office will start the shaking in my girls! They do start to relax when they are back in my arms and we are standing around chatting. Sometimes new situations or places will make them nervous. Oh and Tatiana doesn't like water! She just flips out when it is bath time!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie has become afraid of any loud noises, like thunder, rain, loud cars etc. She is afraid of the weather alert beeping on the TV. Roxie recently became afraid to walk by the laundry room. I'll realize she's not in the back of the house and she will be sitting by the back door afraid to walk past the laundry room. Cali doesn't really have any fears.

| Oh, jeez, well let's see, LOL... Jackson is scared of gun shots, loud thunder, and fireworks. Those are fairly common. But he is very quirky. In general, he's a pretty confident dog, but his weird little quirks come out every now and then... My mom set off the smoke alarm once while cooking in the oven. So now Jackson associates smoke with the noise. For a while, he was terrified whenever the oven was on, but he seems to have gotten over that (and will chill in the kitchen with us, even while cooking). But now smoke still freaks him out so if we're having a fire out back in our fire pit, he will not come out. He also does not like the sparks and popping noises the fire makes. My brother knocked a TV tray (that stands on the ground) over once. He's been scared of it for about a year now. Any time it barely moves or makes a sound, he gets up and walks away. He doesn't like fly swatters. Or killing of bugs. There was ONE time, probably 3 years ago now, that I was trying to kill a fly in my room and knocked a lamp over by accident. Ever since, he gets really spooked if he even SEES a bug (because he assumes I'm going to kill it). And yeah when my step-mom uses the fly swatter, he will go hide under the bed until she's done. I'm sure there's a few more I am forgetting lol.

| My Allie and Luci don't seem to be afraid of anything, at least not that i can tell. Now my Willow is a different story, She jumps and shakes at loud noises, sudden movements, thunder, rain, bug's just about anything. BUT her most trouble is with Thunder Storms, I have to give her Valium for that.

| Lola is afraid of the noise aluminum foil makes and when you snap something to open it, like a folded sheet or a pee pad. Both make her run away. Quote:

| Let's see... Lexie hates strong winds! She shakes and gets between my feet when it's windy. Thunder doesn't bother her too much unless it's really close & loud. She gets scared when I'm sick or not feeling well. She hates when other dogs approach too quickly & enthusiastically. Loud bangs & booming noises on TV send her out of the room.
